Solid Bolin action moment, Mako is free from prison (BOO!) Asami is still sidelined (BOO), Team avatar is back (Yay!), Big bro vs Little bro was so epic!

Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
Bolin action makes up for Mako being released. >_> Ugh! I have to see this! And for Asami, it's a no brainer why she's sidelined. Ever since the Wan backstory, her importance in the overall Spirits arc would lessen (more focus on Korra). This sucks on immense levels because Mako seems to get a free pass.Bluholic711 wrote:Solid Bolin action moment, Mako is free from prison (BOO!) Speaking of which, I'm very excited for Book 3. Â I'll have my full on review on the two-part season finale whenever I get the chance after Black Friday.

Â
Artwork for The Legend of Korra Book 2 Blu Ray has been released. I'll be getting it for only a few reasons. I still think there's potential, the artwork is beautiful and the Avatar Wan origin story was incredibly epic. That alone is worth the price, even though the story refuses to take character risks with it's central heroine and secondary characters like Asami and Bolin.
Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
I agree, Luu. As awesome as Korra is, Bolin and Asami's characters haven't really shined through further like last season. Bolin is the comic relief and Asami is the third wheel.
Hopefully, they will play better roles in the third season.

Me too. Book 3 should place Mako in the background for a change. Asami should have a character arc to accompany Korra's training. Bolin can get more involved in the storyline as well. He should be the emotional support to be honest with you. He's not dry like his brother; expressing more sensitivity towards women.
Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
Really surprised that there hasn't been much discussion here as of late. Otherwise, does anyone else feel like Jinora will never be the same again (in a bad way) after the end of Book 3?
Also, I really don't like the one sub-style of Airbending that they came up with. I won't spoil it, but I think it made the user really overpowered. There was another one that was much better, but again, don't want to spoil it (except maybe for the fact that Jinora is its practitioner). That seems like a much better upgrade of Airbending
While I am still happy that there is at least some form of superior Airbending now, I am still really tempted to write what I (and other net users) might like to call Soundbending, or possibly Gasbending, in a fanfic. What say you?

Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
The main reason I haven't touched Book 3 yet is because I'm waiting for it on DVD. Unless it's Sailor Moon Crystal, I refuse to watch online. Once it's out on DVD, I'll discuss it. I am aware that something happened with Jinora and that there was a big KorrAsami moment in the finale, haha. Other than that, don't spoil me.
I enjoyed Book 2 and 3 is said to be an improvement, so I'm expecting great things. If it's any consultation, I'm rewatching Avatar:The Last Airbender and enjoying Toph antics. haha. Oh, and Katara. Love Katara so much.

Check out the new trailer for The Legend of Korra Book 4, guys!
Legend of Korra | Book 4: Balance Official Trailer | Nick
My guess is that after her fight with Zaheer, Korra went MIA or something. Or more like she wanted to find herself again, her purpose as the Avatar and wanted some isolated place. So she went to the swamps and spent all her time there. Not really knowing what was happening in the world. But, when things with the metal clan started to get out of control, the air benders and the metal benders start searching for her (for different reasons). However Korra still wasn't ready, until she finds Toph that is. Then she decides to start anew, hence she cuts her hair and goes back to republic city and try to bring again the balance to the world that only the Avatar can achieve.
Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
Finished The Legend of Korra Book 3 in one sitting last night. Absolutely loved this season; it's by far the best in the entire franchise. We get to focus on ALL the characters this time, not just the Avatar. Tenzin having to train the reluctant new Airbenders and Jinora having to prove herself as a master was the most compelling of all the stories. I also loved Lin dealing with her sister Suyin at the metal city, Zaofu.
The Red Lotus villians were the best in the entire series, without a doubt. They had great build up (introducing each in their own prison break scene), cool abilities (Ming-Hua's Elfen Lied "vector" water arms give her strong character and presence! She is voiced by Grey DeLisle, who voiced Azula. There's also Combustion Woman! HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?) and a menacing leader. Unlike the standard tyrants Azula and Ozai, the revolution goon Amon and the DESTROY-DESTROY-DESTROY mentality of Unalaq/Vaatu; Zaheer wanted disorder throughout the world. He attacks the Avatar DIRECTLY throughout the whole series; mark of a great villain and something you only see in anime. His calm demeanor almost makes the audience think he's right about the world. *Almost*. He wasn't as powerful as Una-Vaatu, but he was a lot more cunning. Enough to reduce Korra to almost nothing.
Another favorite aspect of this season is...KorrAsami! Korra and Asami spend a lot of time together, while Mako takes a serious backseat (it's about damn time! >:'D ). As long as I get my KorrAsami, Bolin antics, Mako fails and Pabu/Naga cuteness, I'm good with Team Avatar!
Book 3: Change was worth it. Great development, characters and battles. I cannot believe the bitching for Book 3, it's the best this franchise has ever produced by far! There's little to complain about here when they've nailed just about everything, and enhanced story elements we expected to see. This season also ends on a bittersweet note; no doubt a perfect way to end Avatar/LoK's darkest season.
4.5/5
+ Development
+ Character arcs for everyone! FINALLY!
+ KorrAsami
+ Amazing battles
+/- Slow middle
Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
Just curious, what did you think of the superior styles of Airbending that they came up with?
Personally, I also really like the fact that Bolin becomes a Lavabender. I mean, Mako can't be the only one of the bros with a form of superior bending!
One of my favorite characters from that arc, though, was undoubtedly Kai. Early on, the way he went around Ba Sing Se, paying himself for picking up noble's caps when wind gusts blew them off (Side note, part of me wonders what would happen if he blew up the robes of a female noble ).

YesItotallystolethatfromShezNek
The Walrus had a mental meltdown so he had to steal my words. Eh~, expected as much from his Walrus whiskers...
This aside.
I totally enjoyed this season!! No more forced romance!
Amazing KorrAsami moments!! I mean, they were totally bad-ass taking enemies down just the two of them! They do a great combo!
And I hated Zaheer with all my heart. If only he had died....

Zaheer flying caught me off guard. I thought that was an awesome trick. He would of destroyed Aang had they met.
(Kai would of gotten extra points in my book had he done that~ I'm not bug on Kai, but he didn't piss me off. His budding relationship with Jinora was the most interesting aspect about him.

I wish he had. Aside from scaring Korra a bit in Book 4 (I have not watched Book 4 yet, this is what I've read from fan rants), he isn't a threat anymore.
Re: Join the KORRA NATION! [Legend of Korra/Avatar The Last Airbender Discussion Thread]
A weird thought just occurred to me: You know how people were able to teach others how to perform the superior styles of bending? Like how Toph taught Metalbending for a time, and was head of the Metalbending Police Force, or people teaching others to create and redirect lightning (Also, how did Iroh's technique find its way to other people?), or teaching them healing? Even Bloodbending was able to be taught (even if in secret by people like Yakone).
I'm just wondering how people would learn the superior Airbending techniques. The flying Zaheer is locked away, and I don't see how Jinora can pass her technique on to the other Airbenders. How do you think that would happen? (I just can't bear the thought of neither of those techniques being passed on)

Interesting Question, I will cover Jinora's Spiritual plane walking a bit later in the post...however I will cover Zaheer and flying right now
In the episode of Avatar the Last Airbender "The Guru" in Book 2, Aang meets Guru Pathik, Pathik works to help people attain their full potential and cleanse themselves of pain and suffering. So Pathik would thus train Aang in the opening of his Chakras, throughout the episode we see Aang open his first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth Chakra, however the seventh Chakra would come at a cost, to open his seventh Chakra Aang would have to give up his earthly attachments, namely his love for Katara. Aang could not bring himself to do so, even at the cost that he may not ever be able to control the Avatar State.
Why bring this up? Because Zaheer was training himself in the same way Guru Pathik was training Aang. Zaheer had a near unhealthy obsession with Air Nomad culture and lore, with the specific focus of Guru Laghima, an airbender that apparently flew. Zaheer clearly opens his first six Chakra as he meditates offscreen during the series, that is if he hadn't already opened them before being locked away or while being locked away. But Zaheer still had one earthly attachment, his love for P'Li, or Sparky Sparky Boom Boom Lady. This was the one Chakra Zaheer would not break, he would not sacrifice his only love.
In the Episode "Enter the Void" in Book 3 of Legend of Korra P'Li would die horribly as Suyin wrapped her armor around P'Li's head via metalbending just as the bender begins her attack. She is killed instantly by the explosion. With P'Li gone Zaheer's last earthly tether is torn and he unlocks true enlightenment of his air bending abilities, thus allowing him to fly.
Jinora's ability however seems to be more ingrained into her DNA than a learned skill, she has a natural affinity to the spirit world, making her the ideal teacher on the topic of spirits and will probably become one of the greatest spiritual masters in the entire history of the world of Avatar. While it is plausible one could train to becoming a spiritual master of a higher level, Jinora will forever have a few points up on them as she has her own natural affinity. It's like comparing someone with 20/20 vision to someone with glasses, sure the glasses may correct much of the vision problems, however the person with the 20/20 vision will technically have better eyesight. Combine that with the fact Jinora is also trained on top of her natural affinity with the Spirit World and she is in a league of her own with her spiritual abilities, we are yet to see if she can train others to spirit walk like her at least to her level...this is plausible that she could, and in a few years time after the end of LoK she probably did if it is possible.
