Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
Mai-Otome being a fantasy world, it has it's own bizarre, outrageous array of critters. This includes the SLAVES, if you count them. We'll begin with something a bit small...and naughty.
Gelle Anguille
First appearance: Mai-Otome Episode 06 (Nina Entangled ...orz)
According to Nina, it's a creature unique to her planet, similar to eels and jellyfish on Earth. 98% of it's body is made of water, making it impossible to see underwater. However, when it comes in contact with strong salt concentration, it's body becomes cloudy, making it easier to see. And as our girls learned from Tomoe's little trick, it becomes a giant tentacle porn monster with sugar. XD

Ah-Nuld Freeze, tell the swirl-headed girl:
To side with the Gelle Anguille, I kinda envy their ability to just wiggle up Tomoe's crotch without a trace. ;3

Re: Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
Major bump! ^_~ During my editing of episode 19 of Mai-Otome, two species popped up and instantly reminded me of this thread. Ready? Here we go!
Kurochs:
Yes, Sergay. Kurochs! Or Coolaks as my crusty old fansubs refers them as.
A very strange animal of the Mai-Otome universe that is considered a sign of good fortune if you happen to see them. Personally, that was the Major's way of getting his hands up the random lady's skirt. *high fives*
Kurochs also have a diet for arthropod like this unfortunate Scorpion who tried to defend itself against the Kuroch:
Notice how it's goes into kill mode when it realizes the Scorpion is indeed edible?
Indeed. He'll get what's coming to him with our next entry.
Jabbars:
According to Gal, Jabbars are not only very useful, but tasty. Ew? The people of Aswad sure do have a strange diet. If only they took up Mashiro's non-existent candy offer.
Jabbars from what I've seen are like a garbage can, they'll eat anything including people. Arika Yumemiya and Queen Mashiro were swallowed by one of these suckers once. But I don't care about that, their hunger is also directed towards Kurochs. Prepare for food chain irony:
It serves you right. *hard nod*
Re: Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
Personally I find anything with tentacles to gross needless to say I'm not a big fan of that episode with that first critter. However I would love to see the otome slave monsters I haven't finished the otome anime and have thing for most types of summon magic in fantasy genre.

That's understandable given the reputation of tentacles in anime.
Hmm, Slave information and pics would be a nice addition to the thread. :) Check back sometime. Summon magic and fantasy genre is boss.
Re: Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
i wanna know how the Kurochs fly... lol. because you'd think, given that they obviously can, that they'd fly away when a Jabbar opens its gaping chasm of a mouth.
also, was that seriously episode 19 that Sergay saw the Kurochs on the landboat thingy?

they allow themselves to float from the wind... and use their tail to change directions :D
*nod*nod*
that was complete bs, by the way. i have no idea.

not gonna lie, that's actually what i was thinking they did. since they have no wings and given their tiny, yet puffy appearance, it looks like they are quite light and would be able to float on the wind.

perhaps in evil mode it cannot fly, due to its eyes gaining so much mass? nature is so interesting... lol

yeah that beak must weigh a fair bit now that you mention it.
Evil Modo leaves it vulnerable, but means it can eat. each mode has its pros and cons it would seem.

Re: Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
Recently experiments done by scientists on evil world dominating bunnies show that concentrated evil weighs far more than concentrated good. Also concentrated evil tastes like a cream doughnut...which in my humble opinion is kind of weird actually.

So it's practically stationary in attack mode. Very strange species found on Arika's planet. >:'3

If not run, then definitely hop. :) When birds or bird-like creatures hop, it's one of the most unintentionally funny things in the world.

It won't, the information on SLAVES is coming soon. x_x Remember that December is a very dead month for me as I'm kept busy. Expect the information to be posted sometime next week.
Edit 1/4/2012: Currently underway!
Re: Creatures of the Mai-Otome Universe
SLAVES:
SLAVES are the standard enemies in the Mai-Otome universe. They are to Mai-Otome, what the Orphans were to Mai-HiME. There are various SLAVES throughout the series which will be listed in my next post. I wanted to focus on the first one from Episode 1: Yume no ☆ Arika.
As you can see from the collection of photos, the Slave master loyal to Schwartz use their own blood to lock themselves in contract with their Obsidian gems, summoning forth a SLAVE. Even the Aswad have the ability to summon their own SLAVES, but we'll go over theirs later.
Arika Yumemiya, Nina Wang and Mashiro Blan de Windbloom encounter the first SLAVE in battle. It showcases the following abilities besides it's basic power and strength:
Crotch energy/fire blast:
I have to giggle at this attack for it's concept. The results are impressive, no doubts there. I just feel Sunrise could of had it fire from it's hands or chest. X3
Wind-based attack:
Now this is more like it! This powerful gust of wind is fired directly from the SLAVE's power, enough to knock a Coral Otome (Nina in this case) off her feet and break through the barrier she created.
Through it's SLAVE, I'm guessing the Slave Master can witness all the action through the eyes of his SLAVE, even when far away.
This particular SLAVE is defeated when Shizuru Viola used her special Element attack, destroy the SLAVE in one stroke, showing it's no match for a Meister Otome. Duh, I know.
Bonus:
You may witness the first SLAVE in battle here:
