Digimon: Digital Monsters

One of the things that drew me to Digimon was the great character art, the amazing Mon-designs, The fact that each of the kids were well developed three dimensional characters in every version of the show. It wasn't Pokemon that was basically just encouraging kids to take the cute, super powered mon and go elephant-fighting with them, it was about working together with the cute creatures and saving both worlds from an inescapable evil.

My favorite, even now is probably always going to be Tai. The first goggle boy. His struggle to keep the group together and alive when if not for him this whole series could have turned into Lord of the Flies but with cute monsters, though at times that's what I think Digimon could have very well turned into.
Admittedly I'm also very guilty of being into the pairing or shipping wars of Digimon. Taiora forever, still miffed about the second season Christmas episode and all the ones that came after it, but I'm not that willing to get back into such things so I'll just leave it at, Digimon ruled and helped to craft me into the otaku I am today
