If your used to the japanese version it just sounds wrong. The german dub is no better regarding the voiceacting but I can see how some people say it's harder for English people to learn japanese...at least regarding pronounciation. ^^

I, for one, just found it kind of weird to hear Shiz with a Texan accent. This is the primary reason why I still gravitate towards the Japanese version. Well, this is a matter of opinion I guess, to each their own! :D

:3 Oh absolutely, bubble. It's actually quite special to enjoy ShizNat and the rest of the Mai-Series characters in different languages. Variety is a very healthy thing in any anime/manga circle, especially ours. :) I do enjoy the English version despite it making my ears bleed lobsters, but nothing replaces the talents of a Saeko Chiba and a Naomi Shindou. <3

Watching My-Hime three times (twice dubbed, once subbed), I can say the dub is not too bad. It's nowhere near perfect and some of the voices don't fit the characters (Natsuki, Shizuru) nor sound believable (sometimes Natuski), but there's some good (Dub Nao is awesome). I'd rather watch that over anything dubbed by 4Kids and early Funi DBZ.

Speaking of the My-Hime, it's actually airing on TV. :D

If you get a channel called MNet America (which used to be international channel), they're showing the My-Hime dub (every Wednesday) and a few other Bandai titles. :geek:

Haha! Can you elaborate on why Natsuki's voice didn't sound believable? :) To me, they tried to make her sound like such a butch lesbian. Dub Nao is awesome to me too, the sexy bitterness was captured nicely by Marcy Lannan. 4kids? After they screwed up Tokyo Mew Mew, I never trusted them again...

All right, believable is not the right word to describe it. Dub!Natsuki's voice was ok, just a bit off to me at times. Whoa, yeah, you described her voice exactly that a 'butch lesbian'. But after hearing the Japanese seiyuu, it just doesn't compare. I say that being a fan of Natsuki.

I barely got an upgrade package that includes MNet America. It's a pretty cool channel. With anime being so scarce on TV, I'm going to enjoy every little bit MNet offers. XD

I don't hate dubs (not the good ones). If a show is dubbed and translated faithfully, I'll enjoy it. I can watch subs and dubs just fine.

Last night, MNet America aired Episodes 15-16 (A High School Girl ☆ Soars To the Heavens and Parade ♪).

I remember crying the first time I watched episode 15 and the succeeding episode was a fun watch. My girl Midori having a good time! And seeing Natsuki and Nao in those get-ups... *fangirl drool*. And so next week begins the Carnival event. The story takes a darker turn from here on out.

MNet America aired Episodes 17-18 (Deceitful Lips & ――The Beginning.) last night.

The HiME Force are informed of the 'star' by Nagi. Only way to preserve the world is for a HiME who can defeat the other HiMEs. Some Mai/Tate/Shiho drama, one thing leads to another, and a mysterious flute girl tries to kill Mai. Mikoto comes to the rescue!

Mai doesn't want to fight. Natsuki and Nao end up in a fight... just a lot of chaotic events. Next week, things get even more chaotic! Can't wait for next week!

The Carnival arc officially begins! Plus we get to see more of Shizuru~

My net's been down nearly a whole week, but here's the weekly HiMe MNet America update!

Anywho, MNet America aired Episodes 19-20 (Labyrinth of the Heart & Dance of Flames/Tears of Destiny) this week. Now for my quick overview:

Needless to say, our HiME Rangers turn against each other. Yukino is blackmailed into fighting Mai. Akira shows devotion to Takumi, leaving Mai with the notion her brother can take care of himself. This leaves Mai in disarray over what she wants out of her life. Shiho kisses Tate right where Mai sees them.

The flute-playing girl and her crow Child reappear, leading to Mikoto reappearing (after a falling out with Mai previous episode). A huge fight ensues with HiMEs! Akira's Child is killed by Mikoto. With her Child killed, Akira loses the one she deeply cares for... and Mai loses her brother, who tragically evaporates in her arms. Enraged, Mai unleashes Kagutsuchi! Another mysterious HiMe shows up, and one thing leads to another. Last we leave is Mai walking in the rain and runs into... Reito.

Two really impactful episodes this week. Mai and Mikoto's friendship falls apart, solid HiME fighting, and our main lead watches her own brother vanish. It all ends on a heartbreaking note this week. I really felt for Mai this week. Poor girl. :(

Next week, the 'mysterious' HiME ( ) comes to someone's rescue.

And the Obsidian Prince shows himself. Uh oh.

Good episodes this week, albeit the heartbreaking ending.

I'm NOT kidding you. This. Is. The. Worst. And no, it's not a fandub (it sounds pretty much like it, right?). This is the REAL material. Shame on you, germany. BIG SHAME!

German Natsuki sounds kinda hot to me, dunno why. o_o The rest of it sounds weird, especially how they pronounce names. XD That perverted Kino-chan was right about the dubbing it seems, if only I were more of an expert in the German language, I could point out specific flaws. I did so last year with a Spanish Mai-HiME fandub, another awful mess.
