The laziness of Bandai's Mai-Otome DVDs
This belongs in the Mai-Otome section, I know. However it deserves much need attention seeing how it all started well for Mai-HiME. Sit back and I'll explain this travesty that pissed me off for so long.
When the first volume of Mai-HiME came out, it had a simple and clean (UTADA!) menu screen. The beautiful picture of Mai and company with a fairy sparkle/bird chirping BGM in the back. A little too "relaxation music" for my taste, but still good. Represents the happier times before the Carnival arc.
When the Carnival arc kicked in, the menu changed from the happy Disney feel sound effects, to an ominous BGM. Perfectly representing the serious tone of the Carnival arc. This is the height of Bandai's care for the series. Sales must of been disappointing, because what happens next will always make me feel butt hurt.
Mai-Otome was scheduled to be released next and I couldn't be anymore thrilled. Buying the first DVD, I was so excited to see what they would do to make the viewing experience better.
Looks nice, right? Wrong. Past the surface of the generic menu screen for volume one is something very unforgivable.
NO MUSIC.
I repeat.
ZERO MUSIC.
WHAT?! What happened? How could they forget to add something simple as a 30 second BGM! I wanna be psyched up for the more action oriented Mai-series. No. Just dead silence. Perfect way to to start my journey through Arika's life.
For Volume two, they had the courtesy to add a tune for the menu. Now I don't have the complete Yuki Kaijura collection for Mai-Otome, but I'm pretty sure this generic children's laughter mixed with porno music wasn't in the series. >_>
For Mai-Otome Zwei, a beautifully animated wide screen final chapter to the Mai-Otome saga, guess what they did? No seriously, guess.
NO MUSIC!
>_<
WHY! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DROP THE BALL, BANDAI!? YOU'RE WORSE THAN WWE AND TNA WRESTLING. F.A.O. MY FUCKINGG SCHWARTZ, YOU GUYS SUCK!
You may have heard the news:
My-Otome 0~S.ifr~ coming to North America!
With lack of English dubbing, I wouldn't be surprised if we have no music, zero extras except a trailer for Code Geass. Kiss my ass, Bandai. Let this thread show everyone the weak presentation quality you put into these legends. >_>

I never spend more than five seconds on DVD menus, so I don't really have a problem with this.

The My-Otome DVD menus suck!
The My-HiME DVD menus greater than the MO. But no MUSIC?
I hate to be the MO manga Mai Tokiha (HiME) for this Bandai, but I HAVE TO CRUSH YOU INTO ASHES.

The Mai-HiME DVDs had music, thank goodness. Since it was a new series, Bandai thought it would be a serious cash cow. So more effort went into it's presentation. Guess moral was low when Mai-Otome had to be presented to the public. No wonder it took years before Sifr finally arrived on my shores. ^^; Beetches.
Watch your power Ruby, Fuka Academy already has a few holes in it already. Not that the students cared in the mangaverse. XD
Re: The laziness of Bandai's Mai-Otome DVDs
Well, to be honest, the DVD menu thing doesn't really bother me. I bought both HiME and Otome to watch on my television the first go so I wouldn't have to watch them on the computer. Sure, the lack of music on the first volume of Otome was odd, but I didn't buy the series for DVD menus and thrills. I simply wanted a hard copy of the series that wasn't of computer quality or that I'd have to wait to download. This goes for pretty much any series I buy though.
