The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
With the 2011 winter anime season under way I thought making a thread would be appropriate. Discuss whatever you want, whether it be your favorite 2011 animes so far, soundtracks, ovas, or even specific episodes from a series.
From the series I've watched so far here are my short opinions on the series.
Rio:Rainbow Gate
It has a cool name, but from what I've watching it doesn't have a lot of redeeming factors. If you like gratuitous amounts of fanservice with a weak plot of casino dealers fighting over cards called gates to make them the greatest dealer...check it out I suppose.
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?(Is That A Zombie)
I find it to be pretty funny so far, and who doesn't love the idea of magical girls wielding chainsaws?
Beelzebub
Funny anime, some jokes are bit overused but it hasn't quite gotten stale. I'm looking forward to seeing how this anime pans out.
Freezing
It's fairly weak, slow moving plot, excessive fanservice(cloths being constantly cut and Melons are being revealed). It does look nice though for the most part. I wouldn't recommend it watching it.
Gosick
This is a bit of a mix bag. I like the friendship with Victorique and Kujo, but the first mystery arc wasn't that great. It could go either way in terms of quality but I think it's still worth watching.
Hourou Musuko
Unfortunately I've only seen the first episode so far. It's a nice slow, slice of life though. Definitely think it's worth of a shot if you slice of life.
Yumekui Merry
The pacing is slow but I really like the anime so far, the animation is great, and the characters are distinctive. I'm expecting this series to get better as the plot unfolds.
Fractale
I started watching this last night, looks to be a pretty good anime. I like the idea of exploring the concept of a world where no one really have personal relationships to tie them down.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika
Also started watching this last night, and within five minutes it became my favorite anime of the winter 2011 season. The animation is top notch, contrasting normal magical girl designs with enemies that look like they came from out an acid experiment. The story is surprisingly dark for a magical girl anime, dealing with death, suicide, just things that most series wouldn't want to deal with. The characters even with only 4 episodes have been developed quite a bit, more than even entire twelve/thirteen episode series get with all of the episodes. I cannot wait for more episodes to be released because in my eyes this series is almost a master piece.

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I only watch two animes this season. Reason: I have not much time for it and I am not interested in the other ones this much.
The two I am watching are Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika (BAM!) and Yumekui Merry. Madoka is a MUST-SEE so far, even if you aren't a Magical Girl series fan. Yumekui Merry is on hold since I finished watching the first epi. Sadely I think it isn't as interesting at it seemed to me. I don't know when I will be in the mood to watch more :/

I think it gets better as it moves along but it might be more appropriate for you to wait for all episodes to be released.

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
After a string of violent and comedy anime last year, I would like to turn to something more cutesy. Mainly in the magical girl anime department since I'm planning a rewatch of Tokyo Mew Mew and Shugo Chara in the near future. I'll keep my eye on Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, even though the content is dark. :)
Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
Okay, guys, you can hit me. I totally forgot about Level E, which is on one side just totally interesting and on the other funny. It doesn't really matter, if you like science-fiction, it's good.
Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I found a chart for the spring 2011 anime season.

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
Deadman Wonderland ftw.!!!!!
I would like to watch Steins;Gate, but I would have to watch Choas;Head before, huh??
I am not sure, if I want to watch the second season of Maria Holic... Well, I am pretty sure it would be entertaining.
I wonder what The Money Of Sould And Possibility Control is.
I can't say much more to the other series, I will wait for trailers.
Movies: Onigamiden (sounds somehow familiar, hmm), Hoshi wa Ou Kodomo, GitS and maybe some others, too.
OVAs / ONAs: Are there more information to Spelunker Sensei yet??
Of course I will watch Queen's Blade, Black Lagoon and Kaichou wa Maid-sama and I am not sure, if I really want to watch the HotD one -_-
I see, too much to watch ~
Btw. the newest Level E epi kicked ass like hell!
On a site note: Kämpfer für die Liebe means Fighter for love.

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
There are a couple of slice of life animes on there that might be good. Daily, Sket Dance, and A Channel look have decent premises for me. A couple on the list like Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai and Steins Gate I'm not sure on but I will try it out. In terms of OVAs, I will probably checking out Black Lagoon, Highschool of the Dead, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, and Marita-san was Mukuchi.
Unless there are a lot of positive reviews, I won't be touching Lotte no Omocha! any time soon. :bounce:

Reviving this to say I can't for what we have in store for April. The conclusion of the winter anime season and a host of animes that I'm thinking will definitely be a whole lot better than the winter season. :)

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I'll be counting on you to keep me up-to-date on the latest anime releases, Mittens. My vacation time is on the horizon so nao I can finally catch up. I'll still LilPri and Madoka for the meantime.
*raises a glass* Here's to more magical girls with great stories. Hmm...maybe a harem anime here and there for entertainment's sake. :3

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I shall try! On the case of harems you should try out Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? I thought it was a really funny action harem and the opening/closings are really awesome. It does get serious midway but there's still humor to be found.

Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka, huh? Let's see here...
I was going to stamp GENERIC by judging the image at first glance, then I saw the chainsaw wielding Sakura Kinomoto clone so nao I'm sold. I'll post the opening and closing for this series in the other thread and give my thoughts further...
Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
As far as I saw the possibilities to watch I don't think that there was really something I would love to watch (except Deadman Wonderland). Most of it isn't from a genre I like *shrugs*Kyubey Mittens wrote:Reviving this to say I can't for what we have in store for April. We will see.
Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I thought there was a lot of fun stuff. Main stuff coming to mind are Steins:Gate(go watch it!), A Channel, Hen Zemi, and Hana-Suka Iroha.(Too much stuff to mention).

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I think I am too lazy to watch Stones:Gate, dunno why.
So I begun watching a lot of animes. That's kind of stupid, because I don't have the time to watch them all *drop*
We have:
Sengoku Otome: Momoiro Paradox (first epi was nicer than I thought it would be, fanservice is okay, too)
A Channel
Hanasaku Iroha (best one so far, I like the girl who said "Koroshte" to our main character, TROLOLOL)
The Epic Of ZektBach (an OVA, was pretty nice for 30 minutes)
and of course Maria†Holic Alive (just fun to watch, no??)
I dunno about Sofuteni and Hen Zemi.
You finished Yumekui Merry, right?? Was it worth it??
Why are they releasing so much animes right n o w?? o.o

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
I've been occupied with some stuff so I haven't gotten around to Yumekui Merry(I will post thoughts later on the winter season overall from what I saw and complete) although I did manage to complete Level E yesterday. Very good ending for such a hilarious show. I've liked the opening episodes to all those so far other than the OVA and Maria Holic because I haven't gotten around to watching all of season one. I also been watching Dog Days, Hen Zemi, and Nichijou. All fun in their own way(Hen Zemi tv is a little bit disappointing from the ovas that were released).

Oh, okay. So I still won't have an another opinion on it XD I only have watched the first epi...
Yeah, I completed Level E some days ago and I loved it, too. It was so genius and amazing X) I will miss this funny anime.
So no Hen Zemi for me then. Thx for the info.

Re: The Anime of 2011 Discussion Thread!
i will get my final thoughts on the animes this season eventually but I have to post for those who don't know what I'm about to reveal. There is another Persona anime adaption, and this time we actually have it focusing on actual Persona characters joy!
