Favorite soundtracks of all time?
What are your favorite soundtracks of all time. They can be from a movie, video game, or anime series. I've given it a lot of thought, but it comes down to these three franchises and their music (Keep in mind, no special order):
John Williams delivers his finest work with the 2nd and 3rd installment in the Indiana Jones film series. Temple of Doom especially, John and company really pump up the orchestra with practically every track. Which compliments the dark atmosphere and non-stop action of the film.
Yuki Kajiura, ALI Project, Akino Arai, etc. They made Noir one of the most listened to experiences of all time. Don't believe me? Find out for yourself on You Tube or whenever else. You can thank me and Kino-chan later. ^_-
Chance Triangle Session (known as Chance Pop Session in NA) is super packed with the best original J-POP songs. This incredible 13 episode series is quite overlooked, so you don't hear much about it. But trust me, with hits like "Priority", "Woo Yeah Woo Ah" the romantically touching "Moon" and the catchy opening song "Pure Blue" you'll be sold instantly.

Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
I'm too lazy to find pictures but my favorite soundtracks are:
Rent - they did an awesome job with the movie version
Grease - although I prefer the Broadway cast recording more, its still love.
The Ah! My Goddess movie - Still one of my favorite anime movies ever, the music is so gorgeous.
The Wedding Singer - 80s music kicks bum :D

Cruel Intentions
Just a nice variety of music and every song fits every scene perfectly!

Agreed! Really great OST <3emochick wrote:Cruel Intentions

And I agree with the NOIR OSTs, too.
I like the Claymore OST (only instrumental songs) and the Jigoku Shoujo one, too (only instrumental songs, too ;D).
I know there are other good ones, too, but I can't remember them right now :/
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
Every single Silent Hill soundtrack. Akira Yamaoka is my favorite music composer of all time. He makes godly ambiant music (which is my favorite genre of music), that just has this range of different moods.... creepy/ererie, morbid, sad, or a mix. His beats are really unique.
And he also teams up with Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and Joe Romersa to make GODLY vocal songs sung by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn.

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has a gorgeous voice. I'm also fond of Janyse Jaud's singing in her Magic of Think album. She's my favorite NA voice actress (Canadian goddess!). She voiced Kagura from Inuyasha, so you can tell how she won my heart at the start. ^__^
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
Just remembered now, that Ga-Rei -Zero- have an amazing OST, too <3
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
Like the Indiana Jones films, John Williams does an epic job with the soundtrack from Memoirs of a Geisha. One of my top favorite movies ever. Regardless if Chinese actors/actresses played Japanese roles. ;P The music is this film is inspiring and fits the story so perfectly. Becoming a Geisha is the best track, hands down. You can practically feel the metamorphosis of Chiyo becoming Sayuri through song. Excellent soundtrack from an excellent movie. ^_^
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
The Rule of Rose soundtrack was amazing, it really kept the atmosphere childish, yet evil.
Obscure: The Aftermath had a spectacular soundtrack as well. French choirs make the greatest spooky themes.

O_O You'll have to send me some MP3s of that!
With my Death Smiles game (LOLITA MOE GIRLS!) for the XBOX 360, an awesome gothic soundtrack (packed with harpsichord, organ, bagpipes, violins and metal guitar tunes) came with it.

Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
My favorite music is hard rock/symphonic metal, though the soundtrack I mostly adore is the one of the movie Watchmen, with its incredible intro. The best part of the movie, imho
And for the anime ost I'm in love with the one of Gundam Seed.
Simply amazing this song ^^

Fuck Hoffman, he ruined the series and what Jigsaw was all about! Then again, it was the producer's fault for killing off John too soon.
That's okay, Doctor Gordon took care of that bad acting murdering swine for good. :D
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
I will post again when I remember more that I forgotten but one of the first soundtracks that come to mind would be a combination of both of My Hime and My Otome soundtracks. All of the pieces fit really well with in the context of each scene and the opening/closer songs are great.
Adventureland also has a great soundtrack, appeals to my music taste and fits well. I cheered when Bastards of Young started up in the beginning and Unsatisfied was played at the best time(I only talked about the Replacements tunes, but these other tunes they picked were great as well).
Rocky Horror Picture Show...what more can I say really, what can beat tunes like this?

Yes! I still consider "Time Warp" one of the top 20 best songs of all time. :D
Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
the soundtrack of my life is pretty much the Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight ost The song Fall Guy by the Rollins Band was pretty much me in Junior High School and other stuff like Cemetary Gates by Pantera and Instant Larry by the Melvins is just damn good music.

Re: Favorite soundtracks of all time?
I'm not really a soundtrack person per say, but I have a few I enjoy and don't mind listening to when I'm in the right sort of mood.
The obvious choice for me is Simoun. I loved the soundtracks for this, which really helped add to the mood of the storyline. The waltz is great.
My second choice would be Evita. It is perhaps the only soundtrack I own that is not anime. Actually, I only own two soundtracks all together and I just mentioned them here. I really love Evita and the songs, though most do not enjoy this musical.
