In addition to marking the anniversary of my birth (in the interests of gender equality, I'm declaring that it's rude to ask this gentleman his age...), today marks our invocation of Article 50, which will start the process of the UK leaving the European Union.

Doubtless it will be commemorated annually - though whether it's in the spirit of the 4th of July or Tisha B'Av is yet to be determined.
