Mai-X-Project Act I: Zero Hour Part 2 [Complete]

Elsa squeezed her sister’s hands gently, the frost around her vanishing in tiny swirls of light almost instantly.

“Queen Regina has never had any reason to seek Arendelle’s power.” Elsa reassured her sister warmly. “Unlike Hans, she already has her own Kingdom, and the reports have long indicated that she’s more interested in taking out the White Kingdom for…personal reasons.”

Elsa had, of course, read the details of those reports. And while she wasn’t impressed with the vengeful nature of Regina’s motives…she could understand. She decided to be honest with her sister.

“Anna, Snow White is directly responsible for the death of Regina’s True Love.” Elsa’s eyes bounced between Anna’s, silently imploring her to understand. “I would have reacted in exactly the same way, were I in her shoes.”

She brushed Anna’s bangs out of her eyes with a sad smile. “Arendelle has remained outside of those politics, and even if we hadn’t, I sensed none of that vengeance in Regina when we met. She seemed…” Elsa glanced away briefly, recalling her instinctual reactions. “Afraid. But I don’t know for what or for whom. I am here for you, Anna. Perhaps she is here for someone as well.”

Elsa turned her attention back to Midori and Saki, never letting go of Anna’s hands. She needed tht anchor right now.

“That’s alright,” the Queen reassured the two. “I’m well aware of Anna’s….rather boundless energy.” She gave them a smile, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes, still worried as she was over their situation.

"Ara, perhaps Natsuki should introduce me to her friend." Shizuru tilted her head slightly and pinned Natsuki with her eyes.

"Ah haha, right, thanks."
Midori crashed ass high in the air as she sunk into the dirt. Saki let out a small 'Hmph' while Midori rubbed her ear and mumbled curses.

"Correct. What you see is our lookalikes. However, you'll be pleased to know that Midori SUGIURA is alive and well and so is our dear Mai."

Natsuki frowns and started talking again. "Our mission right now is to locate Mai and her group. She has others with her just like us. We need to reunite with them and stop Arika once and for all."

Natsuki looks back at Shizuru and nods again. "This, isn't the Shizuru you know." She said with sadness in her voice.

"Well, sounds like your friend is matter fine then. Point me into that direction and I will see for myself." Shane said as she gave Johanna and smirk and wink.

Johanna's face turned bright red at that moment.

"Sorry, I have just my staff and it's not for sale!" The cat goddess said with a apologetic smile, "However, I can improve your fighting skills and enhance your luck with the ladies. Just close your eyes and take a deep breath."

Once Kanako did as she had instructed, Mikoto used her golden staff to tap the teen on the head. "There, it's done, Kanako! How do you feel now?"

Rezetta was seen on the ledge watching Kaltus and Sam the dragon still bickering over their opposite views on whatever was on their mind. It amazed her that even now, there were many characters who could think alike and others who would clash. It reminded her of back home. Even now, there was conflict.

"So, Aki-kun," Mako asked the school boy, "Do you happen to have any emergency rations with you? That last battle with those scary alien things really gave me quite the appetite!"

A surge of aderenaline rushing through her, Kanako's eyes nearly bulged out of her head. She ran circles around everyone, jumping with her hands outstretched and a beaming smile on her face.

To make sure the powers had awakened within the lesbian school girl, Mikoto took a big rock. "Kanako, think fast!"
Quickly, the cat goddess threw the rock at the girl's direction.

"Bummer..." Mako lamented, her stomach growling for hunger, "I miss my mom's cooking. She makes the best rice balls. Wait, a second, there was a food market somewhere around here! I pigged out there! Aki-kun, let's go find it before it disappears!"

The rock landed smack in the middle of Kanako's forehead and broke instantly withou stopping her. Midori and Saki spotted their former assailant, scowls darkening their faces. Midori slashed at Kanako again with her sheath, eyes widening as it was dodged like nothing until Saki held Kanako down with Cantus before she hyperventilated from running so fast. Midori then bestowed her wack from her sheath to Kanako's head.

Anna loosened her grip and fingers a bit, trying not to look away from Elsa. Something now bothered about this situation with the Dark Kingdom's Queen. "I see. Elsa, you seem to be really interested in this Regina person, heh. I just don't want to be replaced somehow, not when things are more complicated than ever."

Sniffling a bit before locking eyes with her beautiful sibling, also, admiring the snippets of her power, Anna raised her voice once more. Returning the smile that was equally as concerned now. "Can we talk privately when things aren't so...crazy?"

The handsome Frenchwoman then placed her right hand on Elsa's shoulder. "She's right, Your Majesty. We must keep moving. Mademoiselle Natsuki seems to have found her friend, I suggest we keep moving until we find this Mai woman."

Nodding in agreement, Anna hugs Elsa once more. "She's right. Come on, Elsa, it's raining and I wanna get out of here! I'll race you to the bottom of the chasm!" Letting go of Elsa, she continued down the staircase, sliding the rest of the way down. "Wheeeee! Ha ha ha ha ha....sigh. Queen Regina. Is she really that special?"

Oscar bows to Elsa before making her way down as well. She was impressed with the craftsmanship of the staircase. "Magnifique. Your magic winter power created a flawless staircase. Queen Antoinette would of loved this..."

Mikoto, watching the comedic scene unfold, smiled and laughed with amusement. Once the assaulting had ended, Mikoto took Kanako by the leg and placed her on the ground, healing her wounds with a quick tap of her staff.
"Wow, you got lucky really fast, Kanako! You've got both girls hitting on you!"

Elsa nodded to what Anna and Oscar were saying. Conversations of any depth would have to wait. She smiled at Oscar’s compliment to her craftsmanship.

“Thank you, Lady Oscar,” She replied kindly, eyes remaining trained on Anna as she was dragged unceremoniously down the staircase behind her exuberant sibling. “Though I admit, I wasn’t always quite so…skilled.”

When she landed next to Anna she grabbed her sister’s hand before the girl could run off, pulling her in for a brief moment.

“No one could ever replace you, Anna.” She whispered into her sibling’s ear quickly. “No one.”

She straightened up again and continued on towards where Natsuki and Shizuru were standing, glancing quickly behind her with a soft smile to ensure Anna was following.

“Well,” Kaltus said to the cranky dragon, “as…enlightening as this conversation has been, it seems our allies are gathering. I trust you’ll be able to hear them from here?”

“I’m not dead, kid.” Summanus replied grouchily.

“Figures.” Kaltus muttered to himself as he flew down to the group, ignoring Summy’s snort behind him.

He landed near the royal siblings, sketching them a quick bow once more as he vanished his wings.

Kanako lifted a shaky hand in surrender.
"It's...not funny...so much pain..."
Picking up the fallen Kanako with one hand, Midori sling her tall body over a shoulder before turning to Saki.
"We should regroup with Kuga. I didn't realize we had lost sight of her thanks to this idiot."
Saki nodded.
"Let's go then."
They left to follow Natsuki, leaving a kicking Kanako leading for forgiveness futily.

Rezetta approached next to Oscar, feeling somewhat dejected as she joined with the French woman down the staircase. "Oscar, you are not going to believe this..."

"Oh, everyone is leaving! Come on, Aki-kun!" Mako said as she ran over towards Anna's group, she noticed Kanako, looking worse than before. "Hey, zombie Kanako, don't eat me, okay?"

Mikoto ran after Kuga, going on all fours pretty much like a cat.

Natsuki gave one final nod and started motioning her group over to herself. "EVERYONE! Let's regroup now. We need to move forward at once. Let's find Mai and the others."

Johanna and Shane looked at each other before running over to the blue haired woman.

"Yes ma'am ." Shane said with her famous husky voice.

Turning her head (oh that glorious golden hair! Let it sparkle and soar!) towards the imposing woman of flight, Oscar responded curiously, "What is it, Mademoiselle Rezetta? Please don't tell me that young man with sprite wings is into women. He doesn't seem the type to march down both battlefields, either."

"No," Rezetta confirmed, with mock tears streaming down her face "He swings the other way. And he's a teenager. Seriously, luck is NOT on my side today. I'm throwing the towel at this point."
The baby blue haired woman placed her hood on her head for the rain and asked the blonde woman,

"Aren't there any good men anywhere?"

Oscar chuckled a bit before patting Rezetta's powerful shoulders, which are covered by a strange foreign cloak.

"Good men are always hard to come by, even back home. Makes me wonder how Andre is doing without me; he's my childhood friend. Other than him, men don't do anything for me. Not that I venture in that direction, it's just that I have no time for romance when I'm performing my duties as Captain turned Commander. You appear to be young and in great condition, I'm certain a lucky man is waiting for you out there."

If only she had enough security in her to tell Oscar what it was really like, finding love, and finding a place to belong to. She couldn't quite pull it off though. It would have to be at a better time when things aren't so hectic. Rezetta would finally get the chance to tell her new comrades her background and past.

"Aw, thanks, Oscar." Rezetta said, regaining her smile, "Honestly, I'm going to hold off on that romance aspect. For now, anyway."

The woman in white checked on her golden scythe and sheathed it on her back. "Right now, I'd like to get this over with. What about you? Don't you miss home?"

Oscar chuckled at the thought of romance, "I've been avoiding it for as long as I can remember. Andre said he loved me recently; something I've suspected since childhood. The idiot, he tells me such a thing during a time where the French people are planning a revolution against the Queen. Talk about poor timing; and then THIS sorcery happens."

Making it to the united groups, Oscar brushed away her own personal issue away and patted the mighty Rezetta on the back. "Promise we'll talk about this again?" winking handsomely before focusing on Natsuki and her red head friend with the striking emerald eyes.

"Of course we can." Rezetta smiled, "You know, it's been a while since I spoke with anyone who was interested in listening to my sad little life anyway. Like, an ages. It's quite refreshing."

And with that, Rezetta followed Oscar to meet up with Natsuki and the others.

Natsuki stood up straight and made sure that everyone was listening to her. This was crucial if they want to survive against Arika.

"Alright, everyone listen up. This new group that you see before you, or I should say leader of the group is a fellow student from my time. We need her help and I'm sure all of you have run into Arika at some point."

Taking a deep breath she looked around at everyone. "We need everyone here to focus and come together and try not to kill each other on the way. I'm sure some of you will get tired of one and other but we need to be a team. We need to beat Arika and her henchmen and avenge our friends and families death. No one gets left behind here. We need to find Mai and her group as well. I'm not leaving them out here all alone."

Johanna rolled her eyes and nodded in agreement. She even extended her arm up and showed three fingers like her Katniss did. She whistled her reply. "Right there with you, Blue."

Shane popped her shoulder back and agreed. "We're here for you. I may not be the best person for the job but I will do what I can. I will charm my way through them if I have to."

Johanna glanced over at Shane with a look. "Charm....who needs charm?"

"I do. I will charm my way into your heart too, little store bought hair dyed girl." Shane smirked.
