This was a great movie! Great metaphors and symbilism in this movie :)
XD Me too! For a future video, we totally have to do a parody trailer using footage of Nina and Lena. o_o
I'm glad you enjoyed the film, it's probably the best film of 2010 for me.
Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
2011 isn't looking too exciting for movies so far. Oh sure, there's the Mila Kunis movie that Catherine's sister showed me where Mila gets eaten out, but it's a rental at the core. Here are two I have my eye on:
'The Kids Are All Right'
About lesbian parents and some dude who likes to pinch the one-eyed snake. o_o
Scream 4
Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and Emma Roberts in the same film. >o< Oh God, I'm going to fangasm. Looks like we'll see if cheesy 90s slashers can still work in the 2K10s.

Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
Dammit! My favorite movies (Resident Evil 1-4) are already mentioned so often that I don't have to say how fucking awesome they are BUT this thread clearly misses one of the best movies ever made:
SUCKERPUNCH!!!!!!!!!!
This movie is the perfect mixture of Anime, Girls and Videogame and it's thoughtful too!!! SWEET PEA just kicks ass!!
I am a huge movie fan and I have a lot of favorite movies (mainly horror though but I also like drama and mindfucking movies)
I believe Shutter Island and Inception were great films too but one of my all time favorites is
STAY
A film that is indescriple great and outstanding in its story, message and realization. A defenitely must watch.
I shall post more in the future but it's later over here in Germany and I have to go to sleep nao

Another fan of the Resident Evil films! <3 They would be universally awesome to everyone if certain fans can separate the games from the movies. >_>

Luu Sky Sapphire briefly reviews Royal Kill (known in the U.S. as Ninja's Creed):
*sigh* Very disappointed to say the least. The story is rather simple...
A warrior from the Kingdom of Samarza arrives in America to assassinate a high school girl. The girl does not know it, but she is the last living heir to the Kingdom. A noble guard arrives in America to protect the young princess.
Sort of a terminator plot with Gail Kim's character as an the assassin warrior trying to kill this heir to the throne (played by LaLaine, who is famous for playing Miranda in Lizzie Mcguire) and some dude trying to protect her as long as humanly possible. The idea is all right, but the movie moves so slow, it's almost as if it's deciding what to do next as each scene passes. It's frustrating because the movie stars THREE of my favorite people ever! Gail Kim is a great female professional wrestler who has the look for an action star, LaLaine, who is terribly underrated and needed another acting shot and Pat Morita (Who is famous for playing Mr. Miyagi in the Karate Kid film. This is his final role before his death), who always steals the show with his wit and charm. Thanks to a weak script, none of them really performed on the level they could have. There really isn't much to say, everything was one-dimensional. I can only praise how gorgeous Lalaine looks in boys clothes and how FUCKING HOT GAIL KIM IS! <33333 *ahem* The ending to this movie? Depressing. The princess is killed anyway. ^^; If the good guys are going to lose, have some deep symbolic reasoning behind it! I felt like total shit like the movie was over. >w>
Nice try, Gail. ^^; Maybe next time, baby.
Luu Sky Sapphire rates Royal Kill (because Ninja's Creed is a VERY misleading title):

Sum ol' bubuzuke.
If you're a Gail Kim or LaLaine fan, get it. If not, stay away.
My next review will be for Scream 4. I'm going today to see it. ^o^

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! I will Spoiler Tab the identity of the ghostface killer only! WATCH THE MOVIE TO ENJOY MY REVIEW PROPERLY!
:DR Kruger: What's your favorite scary movie?! :DR Kruger:
The 1990s have returned in style with the release of Scream 4, the latest sequel in the Scream series which we thought was over 11 years ago. The slasher series ended on a high note with Sidney Prescott eliminating her bitter brother, ensuring a lifetime of peace at last. Right?
Wrong.
"Ghostface" is back with a vengeance on the fifteenth anniversary of the Woodsboro murders. With the new premise being "remake". This film concentrated on something I often rant about and that is the remake. Never better than the original/s, no matter how hard they try. It's not just horror films either, practically all remakes are 95% of the time, inferior to the original. 30s King Kong outweighs the 2005 Peter Jackson remake by a lot, Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury has more emotional impact than the Jet Li remake "Fist of Legend", and then there's the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. Need I say more? This is all personal opinion of course, but that is exactly what the movie wanted to express.
After a very funny (then turned ugly...) opening with two teenage girls getting slaughtered by the new Ghostface killer, Sidney Prescott makes her return to the place where it all started, Woodsboro. She has come to promote her book on how she survived the entire ordeal from the past three films, hoping to share her strength to others. Is it just me or has Neve Campbell aged VERY nicely? She is so beautiful, it's like those 11 years haven't affected her! I can say the same for Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, as I've seen Miss Cox more often in shows like Dirt and Cougar Town. I never kept track of Neve's recent works, but again, she looks amazing both in looks and acting. Ah, felt like yesterday when I was a horny little fanboy who wanted to marry Neve. When the The Craft released, I was uber happy to see Neve again...that is until I saw Nancy (Fairuza Balk's character) and switched over. XD That's another story...
The moment these murders became public, Sidney immediately becomes a suspect. Somehow the killer planted evidence in the trunk of her car. Sneaky bastard/s. We then meet Sidney's extended family, her aunt and younger cousin (played by Emma Roberts of Aquamarine and Nancy Drew). You may want to keep her cousin fresh in your mind, she's really important. Jill Roberts, Sidney's cousin, becomes a target of the killer with constant phone calls. Same ol' same ol', but the killings continue with people close to her like her best friend and aunt. In the middle of these killings, Sidney's obnoxious publicist gets diced, including two moronic police deputies. XD Now the Scream movies are famous for scenes where you can't help but laugh at the death scenes for being so over the top. One of the deputies (played by comedian Anthony Anderson) gets stabbed right in the face and he responds to it comically. XD Let's just say, he was right about Bruce Willis. Later on during a Stab Marathon party (Stab being the movie series based on the Woodsboro murders, plus made up sequels after the 3rd film. This is again, poking fun at movie franchises that don't know when to end), Gale sets up cameras all over in hopes to find the inside scoop, but the plan backfires as Ghostface finds and always kills her. Dewey arrived in time to save her wife, leaving her hospitalized (becoming the a major key point later in the film).
Now throughout the film, Jill had a ex-boyfriend named Trevor pop in at random moments, causing the audience to believe he is like Billy from Scream. I didn't fall for this as that would of been too easy, I knew something was wrong the moment Jill kept getting all these calls but nothing ever happened. Back at the home of Hayden Panettiere's character "Kirby", these two nerd teens from the school's movie club (the ones who put together the Stabathon party) and Jill show up to hang out. Not long after that, Ghostface appears to terrorized everyone in sight.
Eliminating Kirby after a tense horror movie trivia.
- Spoiler:
- Ghostface is revealed to be one of the nerds, which made me think "He has to be an accomplice". I was right. With Sidney staring into the eyes of death, the two murdering psychos begin their monologuing. And who was the one behind this whole plot to recreate the original Woodsboro murders? None other than Jill Roberts. Sick of the fame and attention Sidney received because of her survival stories, Jill now wants to write her own poetry as a victim of these new murders, She first executes her ex-boyfriend Trevor who many in the theaters suspected would be the killer, then she kills her dork accomplice, ala Billy and Stu from the first movie. Jill's whole idea of recreating the original and starting her own life's story of survival. To do that, Sidney had to die so that she could take over. The moment she stabbed Sidney multiple times, I was completely heartbroken. Sidney spent the entire movie kicking the living shit out of ghostface, only to be taken down by her insane smaller cousin. Jill then planted all the right evidence and injured herself badly so it looked like she went through Hell and back to stop the killer and be praised as a hero.
At the hospital, Dewey told Jill that everything was going to be okay. That Sidney was...dea-going to pull through?! WTF!? Can't have that Jill! No fucking way!Dewey is still oblivious to Jill's actions, so once he left the room, Jill made her way to Sidney. Meanwhile, Dewey visited the injured Gale Weathers and mentioned to her that Jill said their wounds were exactly the same. Gale immediately questioned this...how did Jill know that Gale's injury was...OH SHIT! RUN DEWEY! RUN!!! Jill arrives at Sidney's room, finishing what she started, luckily Dewey arrives as a distraction but is quickly disarmed. Those bedpans make good weapons! Then Dewey's new female deputy arrives and is also quickly disarmed too. Like damn, can anyone take down this girl?! Sidney gets her second wind and finishes off Jill with a combination of electrocution and a bullet through the chest. Way to go, Sidney! Jigsaw (the John version) of Saw fame would of loved Sidney, her will to survive is amazing! The movie ends with reporters/newscasters still in awe of the brave Jill Roberts who survived the gruesome murders, unaware of what just took place inside the hospital. I guess it was to show us that she got what she wanted, even in death.
Overall, Scream 4 delivered it's nostalgia and it felt great. There was absolutely NOTHING new about this new film, it was already losing steam with the 3rd film back in 2000. What Scream 4 did was have the audience visit an old friend we haven't seen in a long time and for the most part, it succeeded! Out of all the talented cast and crew (Anna Paquin was SO FUCKING HOT IN THIS FILM!), one actress stood above the rest:
- Spoiler:
- Emma Roberts. Why? Before this film, Emma established herself as a nice girl in every movie. Aquamarine and Nancy Drew are two films that come to mind where Emma played an innocent girl who cares about others. In Scream 4, for the first time for me, she played the complete opposite of the characters she normally plays. She swore like nobody's business, she played an effective villainess and was just plain cruel. Arguably, the best killer in the entire series. He motives were cliche, but the execution went beyond the epic scale and she was closer to defeating Sidney than the other Ghostfaces, that's saying a lot.
Luu Sky Sapphire rates Scream 4:
1/2 /
Matinee
Fans of slasher horrors and the Scream will LOVE this. Those who are admirers of the film's sexy cast of women including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts, and Anna Paquin to name of few, will enjoy this bloody romp as well. :)
Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
I have tons of favorite movies, but if I think for myself which ones has the biggest emotional effect on me...it would definitely be those:
2001: Space Odyssey
What should I say? It was the most realistic scifi movie I have ever seen but mainly the story was a real mindf*ck, I just love those. I promised myself that I am definitely gonna read all the novels from A.C. Clarke.
Platoon
First movie that made me cry...for real. The first thing that dies in war is innocence - this is so sad, because it is just too real.
Koyaanisquatsi
This is probably the weirdest movie I have ever seen, there are no characters, no talking, no story. Its just some really amazing scenery with beautiful music from Philipp Glass that is showing you some disturbing things about technology impact to our lives. It is not movie for everyone, you have to be for 1,5 h just with your own thoughts about simple/familiar things shown in unexpected context.
Of course there is plenty more, but those 3 are kinda different category for me.

Protektor
Probably one of the few Czech movies I really like.
It is not about some heroic fight against Nazi regime, it is just somewhat attempt for normal people to survive under "legit" occupation. What I love the most about the movie is not just the sad story but the depressing grey-like style of image and music(the soundtrack is really something) which reflects the despair of the times like nothing ever could.

Scream 4
Watched it yesterday in teh cinema. First time I watched one of the Scream movies in a cinema (I am too young XDD).
Well, I have to admit that I didn't like the fact that they had to do a fourth movie to a trilogy and I was scared that it would be something without the original characters. But after I watched the trailer I was kinda excited. Scream I is my favourite horror movie after all ö.ö
So, I really liked the movie X3 I think it was better than 2 (which isn't this hard) and 3, but well, it can't be better than the original ;D
Well, I have to say that I didn't know who the murderer(s) were (fail Kino, fail XD), I only thought about them being the murderer(s) like 10 minutes before they were discovered XDDD
N o w some spoilers and I am done : D
Oh, and I really like the character Kirby :>
Annnnd, did Sid's mother really had a sister?? o_O *has to rewatch teh movies*

- I didn't know who the muderers were, but I did know that Sid (Neve Campbell *fangirlmood on*) couldn't be dead. If she would has been, it wouldn't be Scream for me. And I just knew that Wes and Kevin wouldn't do that >__<

- Emma Roberts did a really good job O___O I was pretty impressed, I didn't know that she could play someone like that ö.ö

Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
XD Sidney's family tree grows when the plot calls for it. Anyway, I know how you feel about there being a 4th movie when the 3rd ended nicely with a closure (something many horror series fail to do). It's how I felt when Bride of Chucky released in 1998, Child Play 3 ended PERFECTLY and because of the continuity errors in Bride, I don't consider that nor Seed of Chucky canon (although I take great pleasure in overweight Jennifer Tilly and her sweet titties >_>).
Scream 4 to me didn't need to exist, the series was fine the way it was, but it's great to see a new Scream with a more adult perspective. Like I said in my review, it felt like revisiting an old friend and I feel it's the best movie of the year so far. Sad since it's not better than the last film I watched before it (Black Swan) and it says a lot about the movie industry nao.
Speaking of Black Swan, I can't wait to show it to Vicky for the first time. I'll be doing a double feature that night, The Wrestler and Black Swan (since they're companion pieces). *impatiently waits for July to come*

Thor
I wasted 2hours of my life with this movie. The plot was too slow and unoriginal, the effects looked like presets from After Effects, they obviously tried to over compensate for how horrible it was by adding big, overly loud explosions and the only good parts were the credits. My suggestion, unless you're a huge fan of Marvel comics and you can look past all this, then avoid this movie.

Don't forget to wasted talents of Natalie Portman, especially after 2010's Black Swan.
I haven't seen Thor yet, but I can dismiss it early. The TV spots show me a loud summer blockbuster with no substance, just like the Transformers films. Garbage. No superhero movie since Superman I and II and Batman 1989 will accomplish greatness (though I'm pulling for Wonder Woman). Even Dark Knight is yesterday's news, proof that it was all hype with no guaranteed legacy.

Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
Just a short review (because I have date in a few) to an awesome movie.
I Spit On Your Grave - Unrated
The movie is fairly brutal but it a must watch. It's basically about a woman who has, how to phrase this nicely...has a very bad day...but she is eventually taken revenge.
It's a remake from 1978 original but in my opinion it is even better. I believe this mostly due to the great acting of Sarah Butler (btw I demand her as Rebecca Chambers for the 5th Resident Evil movie)
She's really outstanding in her role as victim and punisher. So, if you can take blood and torture and you love to see hot woman taking down men, you should watch this movie.

i have everything about the matrix on dvd. my mum got me the massive collectors boxset for my birthday a few years back.
the animatrix was pretty epic. i liked the one where the kids were playing with a matrix glitch (throwing bottles at the ground, having them break, and then get reversed and put back together and such) the most. was truly epic.

Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
Just finished watching Good Will Hunting at school. We had to watch it because it relates to the topic we are discussing at our Health classes.
It's very, very nice movie to watch though cuss words are very evident there. Will Hunting is an orphan who was physically abused by his foster father and over the years, has a very strong defense mechanism. Because of that, whenever somebody starts to love him, he'll make a way to push it back.
I almost got teary-eyed when I watched Will cry as Sean said to him, "It's not your fault Will."
He puts the blame on himself if somebody's hurt.
I so love this, as if I wanted to watch it again and again.

Re: Favorite movies and film reviews
My all time favorite movie since I was 2 years old has always been Top Gun. I don't remember the first time I saw the movie itself, but I remember when I was a kid I would always watch our copy of the movie cassette every single day. Since it came out the year I was born, I never got a chance to see it in theaters, but I hope one day I will.
These days I don't watch it as much as I used to, but every now and then whenever it's on channels like AMC or a Premium channel, I'd always stick around to watch it. I could list all the things I love about this film, but I don't want to bother.

You saw it on DVD?! Did you get a bootleg? ;p Oh you probably mean the animated film version. O_O Never seen that one, just heard mixed reviews. Green Lantern finds difficulty working on mainstream. >_> Make Wonder Woman live action already! The animated film was awesome!
