Indeed chapter one is complete!! I hope everyone enjoys it! As Luu said, look for chapter 2 in the very near future, and I'm hoping to have chapter 3 translated this weekend, be sure to look forward to it!

Actually, it's 99.9% complete. There's one panel that wasn't translated by Midori. xD Easy fix, so no big deal. Until then, enjoy the rest of Mai-HiME EXA chapter 2! I will be making these downloads public tomorrow for the sake of discussion.

After reading the original Mai-HiME again, it's not as bad as I remember. In fact, it's better than people give it credit for. We can discuss the original manga some other time, as the newest manga, Mai-HiME EXA has arrived. Released a while back, Mai-HiME EXA is the latest entry in the Mai-Multiverse (no pun intended). It follows closely to the anime series, except takes new twists and turns. When I first heard it was gonna follow the anime, I was worried. I didn't want to experience the same ol' thing on paper, as it was established in animated form. Mai-HiME EXA is different, but stays true to the anime. That is perfectly fine with me. So hold onto your hats, Mai-fans, time for my boring review of chapter one:

After an interesting prelude, we're introduced to main heroine Mai Tokiha. Looking much better and happier than she did in the original manga. There's no boat scene this time, which is a good change from the anime (you can't capture that awesome debut battle between Mikoto and Natsuki again, it's impossible). Instead, we get Mai (and a beautiful pantsu shot) already at Fuka Academy. Natsuki makes her appearance early to talk riddles about the HiME star. Did I see Shizuru staring at our ice-princess? ^_~

Mai takes it upon herself to tour the school, and eventually bumps into Reito Kanzaki (resident bishonen and soon-to-be Obsidian Lord, no da.) We get one of those cliche "awkward" moments, with more pantsu shots for the taking. ^_^ Yum. Once Mai reaches her classroom, she makes her introduction and Midori makes her random appearance as well.

As Mai heads home from school, she bumps into Hari (Akane's Child) with Mikoto arriving at the scene...accidentally locking lips with Mai. Brief, but a much better moment than the CPR scene from the anime. Hari makes a getaway and Mikoto suddenly becomes...you guessed it...hungry. BAM! Her face lands right in-between Mai's melons. Ahh, those classic moments return. Mai and Mikoto spend some time together (the gratuitous bath scene, every Mai incarnation would be naked without them. Again, no pun intended.) The fanservice ends when Hari returns with Mikoto chasing after him again. Akane Higurashi attacks Mikoto, looking freaked out, repeating Kazuya's name. The most important person.

In the middle of the battle, Mai's powers awaken. Kagutsuchi makes the scene! Sorry Akane, looks like her horse is bigger than your horse. Sadly, my rantings of Akane being overlooked didn't reach the atmosphere, as Akane is defeated once again. Kazu...

Overall thoughts:

Mai-HiME EXA feels familiar, but that's the idea. As much as I loved Sato Kenetsu's more powerful artwork for the characters, Kouteiryuu's art is cuter and just right. It's nice to see Mikoto and Akane tangle as well. ^_~ I'll be reviewing chapter two soon! Discuss, share your thoughts whatever!

Ooohhh...I didn't know that there was another manga that was released. :D I'm hoping to have more Shiznat interaction on this one, but since you said that it will be loosely based on the anime then I wouldn't expect too much. hehehe Thank you! :)

First off, welcome to the Mai-Multiverse forum venz07!

Now that you know about the manga, enjoy it! Every fan in the world has the right to enjoy this manga. By the looks of Shizuru focusing her attention on Natsuki in an early scene, you can expect ShizNat interaction in the future. ^_~ Stayed tuned for more!

Quick update: I've replaced the chapter two link. It now includes the completed page 25.

Many similarities, but with differences.
I am looking forward to the next chap (I saw the raws) and for the chap after the next chap SPOILER I am pretty sure that Mikoto will save MaiSPOILER END

Wonderful news my friend. ^_^ In the past two months I've met a lot of HiME/Otome fans in the Hispanic community. The fanbase is strong down there and they will appreciate Mai-HiME EXA just as much as we did.

I was wondering could you use a different host instead of sendspace? Mediafire seems more reliable and safer? It's just a thought xD

I'm so glad you are all enjoying the scanslations! It's a lot of work, but I really enjoy doing it and its great I can use my Japanese skills for something XD

@TongBaox3 - Are you having an issue with sendspace? Its just as safe and reliable as Mediafire, I've been using it for years.

xD Good suggestion! Check the OP again for mediafire downloads. Keep in mind, they're compressed winzip files. Smaller than the ones on sendspace. Enjoy and report any download errors, if any. ^_^ Better compression tips for future scans (Chapter 4 being the next) are welcome. :D
