In the opening sequence for the Mai-HiME OVA Kuro no Mai, not only does Mai Tokiha dismiss Tate Yuuichi almost immediately, she is happier than I've ever seen her before with Mikoto. Even having a lonely and defeated-looking Reito adds to the happy-go-lucky bond between Mai and Mikoto. In your opinion, do you think they're dating now? Or is Mai just loosely making it clear that she's single and no longer wants either Reito or Tate? Discuss, debate and all that fun stuffs~ Mai Tokiha

Personally I wouldn't put it past Sunrise to do this to further punish Tomokazu for what he did in that supposed interview. <I find it hard to believe he'd ever want to work for them again after this but, bills gotta be paid> I want to believe that Mai just lied to Reito about all of this to lure him into a trap and that she's still happy with Tate but, who knows. They were always the couple to argue and bicker with one another so they may have had a spat but after this they're back together and happier than ever.

I don't know if they meant to do that, but it seems that Sunrise is actually listening to the audience, since there's a strong support for Maikoto.

But it doesn't matter. They are a couple in my manga/doujin! :D

If that was Mai's way of baiting Reito into believing her and Tate have broken up, just to gain his trust, then Mai is a sly fox. But if that were the case, it would of made sense for him to be at the beach party. Unless it was just one of those "Girls-Only" things to punish Reito. Having Tate, Takumi and Takeda there would of made life a miserable Hell for Kanzaki. xD

Well she did need to lure him down there somehow and seeing just the girls would have given him incentive to go. Plus like I said they could have been fighting and Tate was probably not in the mood to be around Mai at the time. Hopefully that changed at some point after Reito's punishment

Very strong if they happened to stumble across fanfiction.net. One of the reasons I put off MaiKoto fanfics for a while is because the authors were too afraid to take the next step in their relationship. Mai and Mikoto date, but don't kiss? For the sake of Mikoto's innocence? That's stupid. ^^; That's like saying Mikoto is still a kid when most of these fics happen years after the Carnival.

That's possible, the "Who cares about that *Jerry Springer sensor*" could be an embarrassed reaction rather than an irritated one. I could see Natsuki saying the same thing about Shizuru, only nowhere near as harsh. ;p

Yeah, I don't understand that either! She's not that naive in Mai-Otome, when she was like over 300 years or something. However, as you and I know, there will be a kissing part in the doujin.

Well, Cat Goddess Mikoto is certainly no stranger to romantic feelings. If the canon is legit, her and Mai have been making love for a very long, long time. :3

For entertainment sake, Mai can be shipped with several characters. Canon wise, I'm gonna have to agree with hildebrant. The Mai x Mikoto shipping can only be theorized at the moment. I'm all for the one that makes Mai happy...romantically.

I guess that when Mikoto grows up a bit more, be more mature and begins to 'understand' the kind of love that couples/lovers have, I think she might be a good girl to pair with Mai.
She'd do anything in her power to make Mai happy.

I don't think they are canon yet, but are giving smalls steps to reach it. Razz

The Blu-Ray special does cast some doubt on Mai/Tate and hint and Mai/Mikoto, but that's about all it does. It's hardly very conclusive.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Blu-Ray special, and not just because I'm a Mai/Tate supporter (he's a little blander than I would have liked for a girl as awesome as Mai, but generally I think the two of them are a good match). Forgiveness played a pretty big role in the resolution to the series. We had Mai forgiving Mikoto, Natsuki forgiving Shizuru, and what seemed to be a general agreement among all the HiME to let live and let live rather than spoiling the miraculous second chance they'd been given by pursuing past grudges. So why single out one person as needing to be punished, especially one who was outright possessed?

Now with regards to Mai and Mikoto, in the TV series Mai was something of a surrogate mother figure for Mikoto, even though neither one of them seemed to really recognize that. Heck the series itself seems to play that up a bit. Just take a look at their interactions in "Lost Kittens" and the string of flashbacks when Mai confronts Mikoto in the final episode.

We don't know how Sunrise feel to bringing back the pariah though. Anime don't tend to hold grudges but in reality it's a problem in business and general. For Seki and Sunrise the bridges seemed to be tact though since then. For in all, he should be a catalyst against Tokiha/Minagi family branch.

He may not have Mai but sure as hell can destroy her reputation and life. Oh Darth, now you done it by making my brain take Tylenol.

In my honest opinion, I view Mai and Mikoto having sisterly love.

I recall that episode with St. Vlas's illusion to Mai, with Mikoto living inside the Tokiha residence.

I think Mai kind of sees herself as Mikoto's big sister, but often behaves more like her mother. I believe I mentioned their interactions in "Lost Kittens" earlier.

As for Mikoto, Mai is something of a mother figure to her but I don't think she consciously recognizes that. I don't think she sees Mai as her big sister either though. About the only thing Mikoto is sure of is that she loves Mai. Making it more complicated than that gets confusing for her.

I was actually quite surprised by the results of the poll, I was expecting more people to vote for Mai being with another girl, and less people to vote for Tate. Nice to see that that this wasn't the case :)

Why do I think Mai alluded to things not being too great with Tate in the Blu-Ray special? To lure Reito into coming with them to the beach. Simple as that Razz
