Reito shrugged his shoulders and gave his beautiful kyoto classmate the proverbial wink of agreement. "Of course, Shizuru-san." said Reito in a calm voice, playing well into this conversation.

The entire Student Council room became a theater performance, the stage belonging to Reito and Shizuru.

As soon as she wanted to slap Reito's face and calling him the worst names she could think of - Shizuru stopped her from acting too forward and disrespectful.

"Bitterness up your ass, Kanzaki-senpai...", she hissed as one last possible retort, ignoring the last whisper he brought up into her direction before her friend stepped into the fight, protecting her.

Why did she even do that? Shizuru had nothing to do with the whole business. All she could do now, was to sit and watch, keeping her mouth shut. she only wondered how long she was able to stay calm.

Reito chuckled at Natsuki's soft spoken insult. He wanted to continue pressing her however way he can, but he chose a more subtle approach. "Miss Kuga, you are aware that you are part of this council now, with me as a higher rank than you. We need you to become a leader of Fuka Academy compared to your rogue days of skipping classes for your own...secretive benefit. Mr. Sakomizu even requested that you follow my instruction. It's a defining time for you and Shizuru-san, we need you and I'm sick of your bullshit."

Turning his attention over to the lingering Student Council President, his firm eyes locked onto her with intensity. "Shizuru-san, I'm leaving this in your capable hands for the time being." informed the dark and handsome man as he walked away with his hands in his pocket, knowing Shizuru fell right into his trap.

She'll be questioning this endlessly.

"If you can find your composure, Miss Kuga, seek me out in Mashiro's old flower garden. I'll be there taking care of what the ol' girl left behind. There's something you ought to know..." quietly said Reito, opening and slowly sliding the door shut behind him.

((A lot of drama for the next scene, Shizuru will question Natsuki with heavy denial as comeback. This is a moment where Shizuru loses a bit of trust and respect for Natsuki, leaving Natsuki no choice but to see what Reito has to say))

‘A part of the council?’

It seemed that Reito never ceased to surprise her today. Shizuru was asking for Natsuki’s help about the council strictly for today only…but then things got out of hand and it seemed like her friend would really have to be joining in their ranks soon.

Her fair brows furrowed when the man clearly told her that he’d leave everything in her hands.

Irresponsible was he not? But there’s something that he intended by this—that man never did anything without a reason. That was pretty much why she was glad to have him as her right hand man…unless of course, when they’re standing on different sides of the line like this.

As the door slid close, she heaved out a small sigh.

At least the tension has thinned with that man’s departure.

“Natsuki,”

She didn’t know where to start. Shizuru turned to her friend slowly, not really expecting anything at this surprise turn of events.

“…what was Reito-san talking about?”

She hoped her friend would cast some light about this. Why didn’t Natsuki tell her? Were there things she didn’t want Shizuru to know? She thought that after the carnival, they’d be open to each other…even herself, Shizuru, the master of mask, had shown the biker her everything.

So why won’t Natsuki do the same?

Her bottom lip was trembling as Reito and Shizuru talked to each other. He would actually shove wrong accusations down her friend's throat and even more, he was about to turn things after his like.

She didn't want to look at this any longer. Thanks god he left for now. The sliding door was like a hidden button for her to sigh as well, burying her face between her hands and groan lowly. That... stupid... piece of crap! Kanzaki had a talent to make an elephant out of a stupid fly.

“Natsuki,”

She peeked through her fingers and removed her hands. Dark emerald eyes tried to avoid contact with deep crimson, but Shizuru was insistent. This time, Natsuki felt like a deer in headlights, not able to move.

“…what was Reito-san talking about?”

The girl stared at the surface of the table, noticing tiny scratches. Whenever something went wrong, it was a nice distraction to fix something and concentrate on flaws. It made you feel less guilty.

"... nothing. Nothing at all.", she started lowly, her voice sounded dry.

"He's just telling lies. Why do you even believe him?"

She still haven'T looked up from the table. Fingernails started to trace the scratches.

“Nothing?” she almost scoffed at that, in a graceful way of course “Natsuki, I did not believe him. I was just asking you...”

Her voice was bordering to desperation. She could not stand to know that someone else other than her has the privy of knowing something about Natsuki that apparently wasn’t brought into light until now. Especially when that person was Reito, who made it a point to rub it in on her.

“Reito-san seems to know about this letter… as well as Takeda-kun,”

She approached the subject like one would a wounded animal, slowly and cautiously.

“…w-what was it about?”

‘What didn’t you want me to know?’

The scratching sound that Natsuki made was starting to grate into her already disturbed nerves a little bit. It won’t do for her to keep this longer…her mask would fall.

"Yes. Nothing.", she repeated with her low, throaty voice.

"Kanzaki is a fucking idiot. He turns a fly into a god damn elephant!"

“Natsuki, I did not believe him. I was just asking you...”

This time she looked up.

"Oi, really? Then why do you keep asking? I do not want to talk about Takeda, OK?"

Natsuki'S voice trembled, as her fingernails. Unconsciously, she had scratched a kanji into the wood, it wasn't complete and far beyond readable, but it needed to have a meaning. Just... which one? It was a word that Natsuki had learned from Shizuru.

The wounded and hurt sound in Shizuru's voice caused her to flinch, squint her eyes as a miserable try to keep things back.

“…w-what was it about?”

The dark haired girl used her sleeve, wiping over her face to hide betraying signs.

"I told you, Shizuru! This LETTER does not exist! He's leading you on!"

Shizuru was always a good judge of character, with sharp eyes that can quickly and correctly read people just from their body language. This was one of the things she had employed to pretty much read Natsuki’s mind ever since their first meeting, since the biker was such an introverted person back then.

And still is until this moment.

“If the letter does not exist…then why is Natsuki so emotional?”

Vehemently denying to this point only serve to strengthen the fact that this letter did exist and its existence was something Natsuki kept secret from her for whatever reason.

“Reito-san did not lead me on…he was leading you on.” she bluntly told her friend the truth that the man was playing the girl—no, both of them, into their hands. But Shizuru could care less about that, all she wanted to know was about this letter…and why this person in front of her, her most important person, did not tell her anything about it if it concerned the both of them.

Could she try to push again?

Disappointment was filling up quick.

“Natsuki.”

“If the letter does not exist…then why is Natsuki so emotional?”

"Why do you even think that this is YOUR business, Shizuru??"

Her nails clawed into the desk's surface, destroying the kanji she had created, with brutal force. the girl was fed up with this shit. Why should she even tell her? It had been a NOTE. A FUCKING, STUPID NOTE!

“Reito-san did not lead me on…he was leading you on.”

Oh really? Fujino surely was quick in her ways of thinking. And of course, there was NO sarcasm in Natsuki's thoughts right now.

"In FACT, he was leading US on. the BOTH of us! DO you even UNDERSTAND THAT??"

Natsuki tried to breathe controlled and slow, but instead of calming her senses, it caused her to feel wet trails on her cheeks. Quickly she turned her head to the side, feeling the embarrassment, the glowing heat in her face and her icy cold hands as cruel contrast.

Quickly, she rose off the chair, causing the furniture to shake and fall with a loud clatter.

"You know what? If you don't believe me, then screw it! Leave me alone!"

With these words, she dashed out of the council room, even managing to close the sliding door with an awful noise. She didn't want Shizuru to see her cry, those bitter tears of anger and frustration.

Right now, Reito got his goal. Creating a wall between them. Good job, asshole!, she wanted to yell into the hallway, but the only thing she could manage, was a choked cry. Natsuki stumbled across the corridor, bumping into a younger student and trying hard to pull herself together until she found was she was looking for. Girl's rest room.

Dashing in, she slammed the door behind, hiding in one of the cabins where she could finally let out whatever she felt in that moment. Right now, the lone wolf didn't give a shit anymore about behavior, attitude and anything else. Hot tears streamed down her cheeks and a choked sob broke the silence around. So what, if a student would come in now and hear her. The cabin'S door was locked, every other girl could just sit in there and cry.

Violently, she slammed her fist against the cabin's wall, again and again. Her anger und frustration grew with every thought that came through her mind.

//FUCK YOU, KANZAKI! FUCK YOU!!//

She made herself small on the floor, pulling her legs close to her body and wrapping her arms tightly around, giving herself support. Because right now, nobody would.

Natsuki felt thrown back into that era, 4, maybe 5 years ago. The strange girl that didn't trust anybody. The loner that never joined any person to do something, skipping classes instead. And even though the long sleeves and some camouflage make up covered things from curios glances, she knew that they were still there. The memories, immortalized on skin.

She didn't want to think about it. NOT anymore. That chapter was over. Helplessly, the dark-haired girl buried her face into the gap between her knees, closing hereyes.

Really. She was fed up with the TWO of them.

Natsuki stormed out of the room with painful words and heavy denial. Was it that hard to just put her trust in Shizuru? Has she not proven herself to her all these years that she can be trustworthy?

The Kaichou almost fall back on her cushioned seat with a shaky sigh, burying her face in her hands. It was not every day that her masked shattered when she was somewhere public. Slipped, yes, shattered, heaven’s no. Shizuru has a perfect poker face—so perfect that if people were sharp enough they would realize that she’s wearing a mask.

Right now disappointment, sadness, and hurt radiated off the girl in waves. She didn’t really know how to feel after Natsuki’s fit, her feelings were in a jumble and it was clear that the girl was quickly spiraling down to the deep, dark recesses of her mind. One she never touched willingly unless there was a reason to do so…

It took the brunette a while to regain back her composure, and even that it was not perfect. Shaky hands began to work almost in a feverish way—trying to get her mind off the incident that had took place not long ago desperately.

If Natsuki did not want to tell her, it’s fine with her. Maybe the girl still has trusts problems even after the so many times that Shizuru tried to prove to her the loyalty the older one has for her. But she’s done with this. It’s all up to Natsuki now.

She won’t bother anymore.

She’s tired…just…tired.

the girl didn't know how much time she just spent inside the cabin. It could have been a few minutes but also nearly an hour. Time didn't exist in her current condition. There was only that vanishing frustration, turning to grief. Her anger, however, increased.

Why couldn't she just get over with and TELL Shizuru about that stupid note? Well... maybe she didn't want to hurt her in the first place, she could have taken it the wrong way. But however. Right now, her friend WAS hurt as well. It didn't matter anymore, if the pain was caused by lies or truth.

Natsuki got on her feet slowly. Her legs felt terribly numb and weak, a little stiff from staying in her current position. Pressing her head against the cabin's wall, she muttered silent curses, holding grudge against herself. She... had to fix that. Right? There wouldn't be a way to avoid it if she wanted to keep Shizuru as her friend. But also... she was afraid.

The lone wolf didn't fear many things. She faced Shizuru's child, in fact, she faced so many awful and cruel things. Why was is so difficult standing her ground and just be honest to herself and her dearest company? WHY?

Her forehead bumped lightly against the wall, as if she wanted to motivate herself this way, guts churned at the upcoming thought. Yeah, the dark-haired student had to apologize. She... owed that much to the Kaichou.

The door was opened carefully, a short peek followed next to assure herself that she really was alone. Tapping to the sink, Natsuki stared at the mirror. God, she looked terrible! Quickly, she turned on the water, moving her face under the water jet. She needed a "cool" head for now, and as for second, she needed to cover certain tracks.

//God, think clearly, Kuga!//

The student clung herself on that thought like there was nothing else in life. Hastily, she grabbed a paper towel, rubbing her face until the irritation on skin started to hurt. So. At least, she didn't look like a zombie anymore. Well, not that much like a zombie, she corrected herself. Breathing deeply, her hands clutched the door knob. She was ready for this - of course, if fate didn'T have different plans for her now...

Shizuru didn’t know where Natsuki went after she stormed out of the room. And frankly saying, she didn’t care. Well, she did, on a deeper level, but right now, no. Because of earlier, she lost a bit of respect and trust at her old friend. Did Natsuki not know how much it hurts to be doubted by the person that you love? After all she had done to prove her loyalty to Natsuki…she gets this in the end.

Well, Shizuru supposed she should not have complained. It was of course expected for the biker to lose some trust over her because of the carnival, where the Kaichou had acted with her desire and—

‘Don’t go there!’

A short calming breath was taken as the composed girl power walked through the hallway, her shoe made clicking noises against the floor that rang against the narrow walls. Here she was, out of the council room for once. Shizuru would prefer staying inside her calm sanctuary, but the event earlier made that place suffocating. Thus was why the usually relaxed president chose to do something mundane like bringing the sealed invitations to the Teacher’s Lounge when she has something better to do.

The trip didn’t take long, the teachers was shocked out of their chairs when they saw Fujino-sama was delivering the invitations. Shizuru kept her mask on as she interact with them, and gently turn down an offer to enjoy tea with them before leaving the room.

‘Fujino-sama…’ the girl smiled bitterly. Everyone in this school knows her as Fujino-sama…the unreachable over achieving student from the prominent wealthy family who has people worshiping the very ground she walked upon.

Natsuki was the only one who knows her as Shizuru….just Shizuru. Just the High School girl who has the tendency to wear masks and keep everything bottled up and explodes when it got too much in the end.

A small sigh came from her at the thought.

Really, now.

No matter how made Shizuru was with her friend, she could never stop thinking about her.

As Natsuki shuffled out of the girl's rest room, her head was lowered, emerald hues fixed the ground. Her arms behind her back, fingers entangled. To others she might have had the expression of being angry or busy, instead she was brooding, nervous. she had made up her mind. She NEEDED to start a talk with Shizuru, apologizing over her behavior.

But her steps through the corridor didn't have that usual deal of being filled with confidence and "annoyance" as usual. No. The hectic steps changed into a silent shuffle. The girl's arms slipped from behind her back to the front, with a deep sigh she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her vest.

Why? Why Kanzaki? Really, why did he go after her all of a sudden? Sure, Kuga hat a lot of enemies - she also considered the whole world as her enemy - but... this was frightening. He provoked her until she became furious. It had a purpose, and the dark-haired girl was so sure about that! Just... WHAT was the purpose of parting both?

No, did he really...? Shizuru? Was that his goal? He wanted her companion and felt disturbed by the third member? Eyes shot open over that conclusion, and yet she couldn't see it. Speaking of... see...

Shizuru! On the end of the hallway! Natsuki had to catch up and finally get over with! They had to talk!

...if only her feet would finally move! No, instead she had frozen in place, next to one of the pillars. Now, would she really be such a coward and ACTUALLY HIDE?

Yes. She has been such a coward. Natsuki's heart was racing madly and before the girl even realized what she was doing, she felt her back pressed against cold marble, her chest heaving in short, uncontrolled breaths.

/Get a grip on yourself! Don't make yourself look like a fool!/

A silent, betraying sigh followed next. She sounded like an animal, about to die in the most horrible way.

/... why... can't I just.../

Harshly, she dragged a canine over her bottom lip, biting unintentionally. The pain kept her stable, but... however, her mind was out of control, it took over her body.

"Shizuru..."

Her voice sounded broken, far too soft-spoken to be actually hers.

Shizuru was known to have a sixth sense when it came to Kuga Natsuki, and that would mean that she would just know whenever her Natsuki was around her. And this sixth sense was tingling when she walked along the slightly empty hallway, shoes clicking against the wall.

A blur of bluish mane was shuffling behind a marble pillar. She didn’t have to be psychic to know who that was. But Shizuru was quite surprise to see how the biker acted like a…a coward. A dog who felt guilty over something he did and chose to step aside before its master, afraid of punishment.

Usually personifications like that made the Kaichou coo on the inside, from Natsuki’s cuteness of course, but right now, it serves only to further fuel her cooling anger, disappointment and distrust.

The brunette didn’t slow down at all when she came close to the girl who was waiting for her by the pillar…or was she hiding? Shizuru kept her face straight, and her posture in a relaxed manner, steeling her everything to guard herself against the person who was also her Achilles’ heel.

“Shizuru…”

It was spoken softly, in a voice that was very un-Natsuki-ish. Full of guild, fear…and something else she didn’t want to know. The sheer intensity of the emotions almost shook her and crumble her mask, but Shizuru held on.

Indifferent crimson eyes met green back unflinchingly.

“…Kuga-san.”

Her voice was the sound of the howling blizzard.

“Please return to your classroom before the next bell rings.” With a smile that both of them knew was fake; Shizuru bid the biker a goodbye and continued her trek back to the student council room.

That was cold.

That was hard.

That was the only thing she could do to protect herself from the pain. She didn’t really know how to face Natsuki…this was the best thing she could do for now.

“…Kuga-san.”

The way it was pronounced, caused Natsuki to flinch heavily. Wide-eyed, she stared at her friend, her lips trembling as she wanted to say what was on her mind. But before she was even able to form words, Shizuru's action came in between.

“Please return to your classroom before the next bell rings.”

Her voice was so... cold. The lone wolf's fingers shook at the intensity of her shock and surprise over that sudden change of situations. She froze in place, hearing the first steps as the Kaichou moved away. No! She wasn't allowed to get off like that!

With a deep breath, Natsuki pushed herself off the pillar, trying to keep up with her "friend".

"Shizuru... Shizuru, WAIT!"

No, she didn't wait. She kept on walking.

"PLEASE! I...", her voice was shaking.

"I beg you..."

Now, if she even GOT her attention... what was she going to say? Please... don't let it be a black out.

Didn’t Natsuki say, so many years ago, that she would never ever beg to anyone?

The biker would go so far just to get her attention…if this was in different circumstances she would have been happy with this. But right now, it did nothing to her.

The Kaichou stopped in her tracks and face the lone wolf of Fuuka with an indescribable expression on her face. It was solemn, serene and unreadable. As expected from the master of poker face, Shizuru.

“Yes? What do you need?”

Her voice was civil, gone was the warmth that was always there when she talked to Natsuki. No affection, no teasing caresses in the accented voice…she treated the biker as though she was just like any other person in the school. No significance whatsoever

They way Shizuru talked to her... it caused her to squint her eyes, nearly making herself smaller.

"Shizuru, I..."

And there it went. All of her courage, all the things she wanted to get off her chest. The want to tell her the truth. Natsuki was... afraid. All of a sudden. She couldn't remember if Shizuru had ever seen her like that before. Of course she couldn't. Because the lone wolf never had shown such a weak and fragile side of her.

"... I overreacted...", she started.

"I know that I hurt you deeply this time. And... you have all reasons to hate me..."

Natsuki swallowed deeply and rubbed her wrists, looking to the side. Her eyes stung and she didn't want to tears to come back. How... bashful. the whole situation was incredibly awkward.

"Look, Shizuru. It... It was only a piece of paper with one sentence on it, I... never thought that it would be so important for you to know!"

She fixed her friend's gaze, shrinking under her icy expression.

"Look, Shizuru. It... It was only a piece of paper with one sentence on it, I... never thought that it would be so important for you to know!"

She kept her face still when Natsuki blurted that out.

Only a piece of paper with a sentence on it…and yet, this little paper would determine how much trust Natsuki has in her.

“You are important to me, Natsuki,” Her voice low and unreadable as she spoke “I share my happiness with you, all my sadness, my woes and worries…”

She let her mask fall, just a little bit.

Enough to let her friend see how hurt she was inside.

“…I just wished that you feel the same towards me.”

Regardless to her rejected feelings.

But it was clear to see that the biker didn’t feel the same towards her. Didn’t feel that she was important enough to be told about a measly piece of paper with a writing on it that was given to one of her main admirers.

Shizuru knows that she might be petty with this…but she couldn’t help it.

She loves this girl so much that she wanted to be included in her everything. It was selfish of her, she knows…but seldom does the girl do anything for herself. She deserves moments like this, right?

The brunette quickly put her mask back on and left once more, trying to reach the council room and shake Natsuki off of her. This was enough tension for today. She couldn’t take anymore.

"I... "

She could only bring out a stuttered something, not even a statement, nothing.

“…I just wished that you feel the same towards me.”

Then she looked away, swallowing down the bile in her throat. she couldn't help it. That words made her shell crack once again, her eyes glistened with a feeling she couldn't describe herself.

"Shizuru... you are as important to me... that's... that's why I didn'T want to tell you... I did not want to ... make you worry..."

Natsuki'S voice was a mere whisper. And... even the last part was so hard to say. Her heart felt like it was leaping out of her chest.

"I... I mean it. You are all... that I have... Shizuru... ... daisuki..."

As her friend simply turned around and left without an answer, Natsuki realized that she failed. Why did she even bother saying those things? In the end... she seemed to be better on alone.

How in hell could such a "blatant" thing hurt so deep inside? the lone wolf was alone again. All on her own. Would Shizuru even forgive her?

To be honest... the dark-haired student didn't know anymore.

Daisuki…

Shizuru was pretty sure that Natsuki said that because she’s desperate at the blatant indifference. Because that was the only way the biker could think of to get Shizuru to talk to her normally again.

That simple one word nearly shook her core, but she revered. She won’t be swayed that easily. Apologies would come later; she really has to calm herself down right now.

The Kaichou power walked towards her one and only sanctuary and nearly slammed the door close when she reached it. Shaky hands fisted against the soft wood as the girl slid down, leaning her forehead against the door as her body nearly gave out from the mental exhaustion.

Being in love can be very painful sometimes.

During her lonely nights Shizuru would wish that she didn’t fall in love with the first place, but then she pushed that thought away. But right now, during her vulnerable moment, that thought crawled back into her head again, and it took everything in her not to agree to that one little statement.

That was because; she’ll never trade this love for Natsuki for anything in this world.

She’ll bear every hurt and every pain.

Being on her own, Natsuki's body shook like a leaf. so... that was it? really? Not even looking back? Just.. walking on?

"... shit..."

Well said. Really. Good Job, Kuga! Now she even pushed away the last person who believed in her, supported her in any possible way. Nothing was left.

She rammed her fist against the pillar, groaning at the pain when flesh and bones hit marble. Hissing lowly, the girl stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket. she would have liked to SCREAM loudly in frustraion, yelling at someone until her throat was sore.

But... as for now... that had to wait.

... Reito. right?

She had to make her way to the garden. And hold back any urges to kill that bastard! It was all HIS fault.

Of course she skipped the option that it could have been her own fault as well...

Reito emerged from the shadows to witness the pain and anger that Kuga's body language gave off. It was a wave that he could literally feel. He savored the moment before revealing himself to the blue haired girl. At the time of the infamous HiME Carnival, he never got a taste of the essence that drove Valkyries like Natsuki or Shizuru; he knew he had something worth his while now.

"You do know that swearing isn't lady-like, right Kuga-san?"

The deep voice spoke loudly as Reito stepped away from the opposite pillar of where Natsuki stood. With her back turned, he continued on.

"Look at you. Like Mai-san, you clearly aren't honest with yourself. Let alone...others." chuckled the dark haired men, referring strongly to the doubtful Shizuru Fujino.
