As I said I don't know any other Destiny FFs, but maybe the other users here can be helpful ;3
Is there any reason why you don't want to read AU FFs?? o.o

I've read a number of well-written and interesting AU Shizuru/Natsuki fan fictions in my time, but that's not really what I'm interested in at the moment. This is largely because of me skimming over what's been up on ff.net in recent months (I still skimmed some stories even when I wasn't involved in the fandom) and finding a lot of AU stories also force Shizuru and Natsuki OOC. I don't really see the point in OOC stories so I give them a wide berth.

Also, it seems like people have either gotten bored of or have forgotten about the original plots for Mai HiME, Mai Otome, etc. They're always looking for other sources for inspiration when I think there's still a lot of unexplored stories in canon. That's just my opinion though. :)

Yep, that'd be right. Back when I was writing Destiny Awaits, I was keeping up to date with the light novel, and I think I'd only gotten up to chapter 6 at the most. I recently went back to the scanlation site but chapters 6 and 7's links are broken so I only got to read 8. I can't find any links for the remaining chapters. I'm curious as to how it turned out, particularly for Shizuru and Natsuki.

I see your reason. What's the point to read a FF to a character, when it isn't this character at all?? I am reading some FFs, but not this much and I am glad that they aren't OOC (more or less XD). I just can remember two really good FFs with the original HiME plots, but they are in German, so you won't be interested, right?? D;

I do have chapter 6 somewhere, I could sent it to you, if you want.

My German isn't too good unfortunately. Both my mother and grandmother were German but I, sadly, didn't pick it up from them. D:

OOC kills most stories that could be good if they weren't OOC. =/ when I write I try my hardest to keep everyone in character-because nothing will put me off reading a story like a OOC character.

Some AUs are nice, but then I always appreciate a good old fashion Fuuka Academy fic or something I'd like to see from the canon world. that being said, I like writing AUs as much as I like writing canon so...xD

Aye, exactly. Some AUs intrigue me because the ideas are original but I see a lot of "AU and kinda OOC" in summaries these days. I just don't understand why people don't rename the characters and pass it off as an original piece of fiction if that's the case, since it's not those borrowed characters any more.

I do enjoy writing AUs myself, it's just that I like to read canon.

Yeah-if you know it's going to be OOC, why even bother using those characters? If I think I'm getting a character too OOC I scrap it. If I can't make it work, I won't do it.

AUs are fun! xD So many options...but Canon is where it all started, and nothing's better than reading things back at the root of it all.

On the contrary, I'd love to learn the language. But I've had my hands full with Ancient Greek and now Swedish. I think one at a time is enough for me. Perhaps that can be my next endeavour. :D

@Kona: Yep, you're absolutely right. But since I've just gotten back in touch with my inner ShizNat fangirl, I want to explore those roots again. ^^

I tend to stick to canon whenever possible. Of course, that's not obvious in my fanfiction. lol The events of the anime (which I prefer more than the manga) surpass every fanfic I've ever read. That's where my love for the series began. Same goes for Mai-Otome. To prefer fanfiction, it would have to come to life in a more mainstream light. Good luck making that happen. ^_~

In the end, I'm happy with the anime, manga, doujin, fanfiction and whatever else. But I always look back to where it all began (for me) the most. ^_^

OOC means out of character, and AU means alternate universe

No Problem! OOC stands for Out Of Character. I first encountered it when I used to roleplay waaaay back in the day-It's used as a term for when characters begin acting not like themselves. Like...say Mikoto suddenly decided to stop over eating and snuggling into Mai's Melons-and became a depressed emo child. THAT is out of character-In other context you can use it in roleplaying if you have a post that's half the character talking and half you talking:
Natsuki did this and that and the other thing.

AU stands for Alternate Universe, which is just that. Anything that doesn't take place in the actual setting, time, or such and such is considered AU. Like if the HiME cast were suddenly space cowboys-that woudl be an AU.

Yeah, some do get pretty repetitive. ^^; I try to fight falling into any sort of pattern by asking what people want to read and trying different styles of writing to stop myself from doing the same thing over and over again. But you're right-there's been a lot of the same stuff lately.

Every few months I think a new cliche or theme get used and everyone jumps on it. Remember for a while there was that burst of HarukaxShizuru? I think that's just the way the fanfiction flows. When someone reads something it stays with them...so most of ti is just monkey see, monkey do.

I don't mind repetition when it comes to fanfics to be honest. It's all in good fun and even I have to admit that every idea has been done to death. Maybe not so much in the Mai-series, unless you're very creative. I only get anal when official canon get repetitive, which isn't the case with Mai-HiME and Mai-Otome. Okay, maybe Mai-HiME at first with the Orphan arc. It was text book monster-of-the-day battles like the Sailor Moon anime/PGSM. The Carnival arc fixed that obviously.

Everyone posts their vision on the couple so it might turn out so.

I friggin recomend reading:

"inter nos" by etherwinter
"Playing with mercury" by starvinglunatic (its a sequel but one hell of a sequel)
"sailing the blue high" by littledemoninside, this guy also wrote "Shizuru" heck, a psyco shizuru is hawt. Check his fics.
