The fantasy filled Hercules The Legendary Journeys spin off not only became such a massive hit around the world, but also one of my most beloved shows. My love for Xena all began with Wonder Woman, who was also rooted in Greek Mythology. Seeing this powerful woman (played by the awesome Lucy Lawless) reminded me so much of Wonder Woman, only with her own unique flavor. When her own series picks up, we see Xena as a character wanting to do good deeds. Erasing her dark past little by little. She soon meets up with Gabrielle and one of the most dynamic relationships begins to mold itself. <3

Xena started out very cheesy (okay, it has several cheesy moments here and there) but at the core, the story of these two women and the colorful cast of characters they run into (my favorite being Callisto <33333 ) is a very epic one. I was such a huge fan growing up, I was even in the So utilitize this thread to talk about all things Xena. The actresses/actors, merchandise, season talk, the official Xena magazine (nostalgia!!!!), anything! ^o^

I can't remember my exact age when I first watched Xena, but I was in love with the show at a very young age.
My childhood best friend and I would play that dancing episode, and would dance around trying to do everything Xena & Gabrielle.
I even went as Xena one year for Halloween, I was probably 7 or 8? lol

But Xena is one of those shows I'll never get tired of watching, it was so amazing, and they clearly don't make shows it it anymore. My brother is watching the season with me now.

No they don't. Live action shows are so dull and bland now. Even the new Nikita is nothing compared to the original. It's good, but lacks that 90s magic which shows like Xena possess.

I havent watched all of the episodes (as it is with me and any series that I watch no matter how much I love it) but I loved and adored the series from day one. I always said that I was Gabrielle and that my best friend was Xena!

(( Cool intro, emochick! :) I was always the Xena in my relationships/friendships, strong and protective. This is not necessary one-sided either as Xena always needed Gabby to support her in desperate times.

Sexy Back, huh? If anyone's seen the various times Lucy shed her clothes, they noticed her all-natural beauty. She was quite fit too, I can't imagine anyone else playing Xena (in case they're crazy enough to remake). Just like I can't picture anyone as Nikita, except Peta Wilson. ))

XENA!!! This anazing show is where i got my xbox gamertag and my username from.
ok so I was wanting a gamertag that was bold like lesbian bold but not overly butch bold so I came up with AthenaX514. the story of the X514 is to represent the show season and episode I got the idea from...xena season 5 episode 14, Athena is in this one and this is a good one if you ask me, its like top 5. anyways I chose Athena in the first place because she seemed to be obviously into chicks...i mean hello she had an entire army of sexy women in short skirts she wasnt fooling anyone. I did some internet digging and found that most sources say she is in fact gay and has not slept with a male which depicts me perfectly so all i need now is a sexy army of women in skirts! ^.^

Ahh yes, Xena...I remember my sister would catch that show every so often because she really liked the kind of woman Xena was. My mom would watch it with her too. I was too young to understand the concept of lesbian relationships at the time since I was still in elementary school when it came out. But I clearly remember the relationship between Xena and Gabriel and how the two of them seemed inseperable.

The one other thing I remember of Xena, besides Lucy Lawless' battlecry for her, is her main weapon of choice: her chakram. I didn't know what the weapon was called until I got the answer through an unintentional source, Deadliest Warrior. I always remember Xena carrying that thing around and throwing it at the bad guys.

To this day I am still amazed at Lucy Lawless' battlecry for Xena. It makes me wonder if she could still pull it off if she wanted to. These days I remember her not just as Xena but as a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica.

I remember watching Xena because the two main cast of Hercules crossed over to this show xDD Even though I was a weeny kid, I love roman mythology and I remember how I badly ship Hercules and Xena together lol.

I didnt actually get around to watching this until i was in college... but i have seen sprinkles of episodes here and there prior to that. Though, I never appreciated it until my then-gf at college lent me the seasons. ^-^;

I liked Gabby a lot too, though I think I liked her better in the early seasons. If long hair on a spunkier Renee O'Connor is not the cutest thing since Hello Kitty, I don't know what is.

Yes it did and it did make sense for her to cut it over time. The short hair represents the experienced warrior she's become thanks to Xena.

Feminine or tough for me, I feel there's beauty in all women. Take wetochan and her friend (and our moderator) depression76. Girly when the time comes, but they are mostly tomboy. Weto actually got into weight lifting because of me. Her enthusiasm was cute to say the least. ;p

Reviving the Xena thread in honor of the new TV/Movies section! Here's a question about Gabrielle's sexuality borrowed from the Xena forum for you all:

If one accepts the "subtext" view of Gabrielle and Xena being more than friends -- in fact, lovers -- and just for the record I think I do, does that mean Gabrielle was a lesbian? I mean, to start with, she was this very young, innocent (virgin) girl who almost accidentally ended up with Xena. Traveling, experiencing life, eye-opening experiences, incredible highs and lows, both physically and emotionally. After some time, their relationship became not so platonic, but sexual if you are a subtexter.

My question then, is if Gabrielle had never met Xena would she still, somehow, somwhere, with somebody else, been gay? Was it just that Xena brought it out? Was Xena was so overwhelming in every way that Gabrielle simply fell under the spell, in all ways? Had Gabrielle never left Potadia, would she have simply grown up, had boyfriends, got married, raised a faimly and been content forever? Maybe there is no actual answer to this, but I'll bet their are some opinions. What is yours?
