Hello ! I'm Antiope

Hello everybody !

I'm Antiope, 27 years old, from France, and I'm crazy in love with Shizuru    (by the way, I like this collection of smileys ^^). And I am a fan of ShizNat too

The first time I watched Mai HiME it was in 2008 or 2009, a friend recommended it to me. I liked it but it didn't make such an effect on me (I thought Natsuki did reject Shizuru )
About one year ago I wanted to see it again, and then... my life changed     I saw things differently. By the same time I discovered Mai Otome, and the wonderful world of fanart, fanfictions...
Don't laugh, but since one year I use a ShizNat picture as my wallpaper on my phone

Since several weeks I started to draw (ShizNat pictures of course) but I'm still a novice. Currently what I do is mainly copying existing images, but I hope I will be able to draw my own pictures one day.

I discovered quite recently all the stuff around the series : CD drama (but I don't have all tracks nor all translations), characters songs (I learnt Shizuru's song by heart in less than 15 days...), omake... But I'm sure I still have a lot to discover. And since the series are no more commercialized I have difficulties to find some things (I've read things about anime guidebooks, artbooks... I don't know what it is).

Currently I don't have watched a lot of animes. As a lesbian IRL I would like to discover other yuri manga/animes. I have some titles that were recommended to me but I didn't have watched them yet ^^

I'm glad to be able to speak with other Mai HiME/Mai Otome fans :) Oh, and I would like to know how to gain bubuzuke points ^^

You are welcome to revive any discussion thread on the forum, no matter how old. We all want to know how you feel about the series as a whole. ShizNat and Mai-HiME/Otome in general!

Enjoy your stay with us! And like Franny said, you get bubuzuke points simply by posting! You get Armitage GUTS if someone "likes" your post, like a "like" on Facebook. :3 But no matter what, bubuzuke points will always be higher than GUTS.

Hello. Welcome to this forum. I'm Lerena and I am the member that tries to be funny sometimes but probably doesn't succeed. Either way, I hope you have fun here and enjoy yourself. This is a nice, accepting forum with lots to offer in the way of connecting with other fans.

And we don't discuss just Mai HiME/Mai Otome either. We discuss a number of other things too and a lot of the members here are a fan of yuri manga and anime. Considering I haven't been doing a good job keeping up with my interest in yuri lately, I don't have many suggestions, but you're welcome to ask people here if they have any additional recommendations for you.

I read many topics on this forum before I registered. Yes I will surely revive old discussions to ask my silly questions ^^

So cool, I already have some bubuzuke points and Armitage GUTS ^^ Obviously Shizuru will always beat Haruka

firesphere306, you can see my drawings on Deviant Art (http://antiopedethemiscyre.deviantart.com/), but I'm not sure I can be called an artist ^^ I'm only a novice.
And concerning your offer to provide me yuri mangas/animes, what I like in Mai HiME/Otome : action, fights, the fact that the main characters are almost only girls the emotion too, because love for their most important person is what gives them their power. I like the design too. In a lot of mangas/animes (mainly shojo I think), characters have huge eyes which make them look like dolls, I don't really like it (for instance I don't like the characters design in Mai HiME Unmei no Keitôju for what I could see of it).
I saw Kannazuki no Miko a few months ago but I didn't like it. I found the first episodes very repetitive, only the last one was masterful. And one of the two girls (Himeko if I remember well ?) does nothing else than crying and complaining, that's boring ! But I should probably watch it again, I may see things differently now that I now how it ends.
I have a list of animes that were recommended to me : Strawberry Panic, Maria Holic, Akuma no Riddle, Aoi Hana, but I still haven't watch them.

Ice Silver Crystal, er, why anti-p ? (I'm wondering if there is a wordplay ?). Some of my friends call me Tiope or Tiotiope (maybe not the easiest to say/write ^^), or even Isa-chan (because Antiope is just a nickname, my real name is Isabelle).

It's a shame you didn't like Kannazuki no Miko. It's not a mind blowing series, but to it's credit, it's a sweet story. Chikane's ordeal in the second half is what makes it work. There are plenty of recommendations in our Yuri section:

Well, I will give another chance to Kannazuki no Miko... one day... After all the first time I watched Mai HiME it didn't strike me that much, and when I watched Kannazuki no Miko I was only thinking of Mai HiME/Otome and ShizNat and I was not open to discover anything else ^^

Nah. If you don't like Kannazuki no Miko, you don't like it! Simple! There are plenty of yuri you may like. ShizNat is a tough act to follow, no doubt about it. I'd suggest practicing with older yuri legends like Haruka and Michiru of Sailor Moon fame; or Utena x Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena! Some of the members might lure you into Nanofate from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha!

Ah, I saw these names so many times, yes I guess I should watch it :)

I have a question : what are the "teams" (team Natsuki, team Shizuru, etc) ? What should I do to be part of a team and what does it bring ?
I love Shizuru, but that's because of the Natsuki inside of me ^^ So I don't which team I should join ^^

I wasn't a big fan of Kannazuki no Miko either. It was too...I don't even know the word for that show. Anyway, I like the ones that Luu suggested. So I am going to add mine.

If being in the Chie team doesn't not imply me to speak or behave just like her it's ok ^^ I think the person I look like the most is Natsuki (that must be why I love Shizuru ?   )
But after all, Chie is my third favourite character (after Shizuru and Natsuki obviously, but I suppose that Natsuki's and Shizuru's teams are the ones with most members ).
Chie is fun, sexy and so gay    It's a shame she doesn't play a more important role in both Mai HiME and Mai Otome.
And her seiyuu makes me think of a japanese version of Katherine Moening

Not at all! Being in a team means support of that character. More than you would normally support said character. Chie is one of my favorites, so although I'm (proudly) wearing Miss Maria's colors, I still envy you.

Nice list, Kara! Simoun is one of the greatest yuri I've ever seen.

If I had been placed in Tomoe Team it would have been a problem for me

I saw some fun topics in the Linden Baum zone but I didn't understand the rules well, is it OK for me to post over there ? I would also ask some questions to Natsuki
