Mai-X-Project Act I: Zero Hour Part 2 [Complete]

Springing up with a start, Kanako panicked as she heard the guard's explanation.
"Is...is it a parasite?! Gahh no! Why?!!"
Raising her muddy hands to the sky, Kanako trembled uncontrollably.
"Dear Mother in Heaven, your dearest Kanako may be done in by nasty pests. Please save me!"

Shane looked up from the glowing sphere to see if anyone was paying attention to her. She started walking back over to the group, lighting up another cigarette and smirked.

"What do those things do? They seem important?" Shane asked as she blew smoke out of her mouth. She kept looking back at the sphere and back at them. "You know those things."

As Shane over heard one of the Crusaders talking, she tried to pay attention. What was left of the conversation that is.

"Bent outwards? Like something came out of it?" Shane continued to smoke and looked around over her shoulder a few times.  "Damn, I need to find a weapon, and fast. That shit isn't human that's for sure." Shane walked around the area, trying to find anything that would help her. She came upon a metal pole with spikes in it.

"This will do!" She smirked as she took another deep breath.

"I will be somewhat ready this time." She flung it over her shoulder and nodded to herself, showing off her lean muscles.

The Crusaders stared at the strange girl with heavy confusion and a bit of worry. One of them leaned over to Kaltus and asked, "You sure she's a princess?"

One of the female Crusaders galloped over to Shane. A 6'4, strong; almost Mediterranean looking woman with solid steel arms and abs to match. "Guess you're new to this too, eh? These are called Save Spheres. You can use them to replenish your health. Of course, it's rather useless if you and your friends are able to heal yourselves like a Summoner. Touched my first Sphere on the S.S Winno when I was a little girl."

She then smiles at Shane in cocky fashion. "It was the most climaxing moment of my life."

Kaltus laughed again at Anna’s antics, giving her a cheeky grin.

“Didn’t anyone ever tell you, Princess? You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friends’ nose.” He was fairly certain he could hear his mother’s laugh and sister’s groan from here.

He turned his attention to the Crusader that had addressed him.

“Yup, and believe it or not I’m actually Nobility as well.” His grin at that point could only be described as shit-eating.

Shane looked the woman up and down, from head to toe. She scanned her eyes over her solid steel arms and abs, she huffed to herself so she wouldn't make a sound. She was knew to this feeling almost. She was use to people looking her up.

She smirked and walked over to the Crusader, walking up behind her to pretend that she was looking at the sphere the whole time. "Well, looks like I will be on that thing the whole time." She snickered to herself.

The princess chimes in, "There's more that meets the eye with us, Majorly Hot Crusader Man! We'll find these fiend babies that escaped their mommies....creepy thought, heh heh...."

Suddenly standing at attention, Kanako gave a firm salute.
"Yeah that's right! We'll kill these things like nothing! As long as we don't die first!"
She began to laugh nervously, shaking but not admitting fear.

The dark skinned Crusader jumped down from her feathery steed to examine Shane. "Why do you say that? Are you injured somewhere?" She placed her powerful hands (that were as durable as the silver-plated armor she was wearing. Rough with callouses; probably from wielding swords all her life and heaven knows what else) on Shane's arms, thighs and breasts. Not at all in questionable fashion, not that it would of mattered. "You seem fine for this mission, young lady. There's no need to touch anything..."

Noticing the sight of Shane and the Crusader, Kanako let her nosebleed run freely.
"N-Nice..."

Shane held in her unusual blush as the touching subsided. Her bangs fell in front of her face and she blew them off to the side.

"The reason why I said I would be on here all night is because I don't have anything to defend myself from harm. Whatever it was that killed those people, will eventually show up and all I have is this...thing." Shane said as she held it out in front of her. "This....pole."

She looked up at the girl again and huffed. "But, what you just did felt good. It's been awhile." Shane smiled and winked. She started to walk away a bit.

"We're off then! You can count on us!"

As Anna prepares to head in the direction of the dirt road leading to where the dead fiends were, she spotted Mako pigging out in the nearby market. "MAKOOOOOO! WE'RE HEADING OUT NOW! AND DON'T FORGET TO BRING SOME OF THAT BESAID SMOKED DUCK!!! SOUNDS DELISH!"

Mounting a Chocobo a second time, Kanako pointed forward to the horizon, a fierce cry leaving her.
"LET'S GOOOO!"

Natsuki landed on her back once again as she hit her head on a large stone slab. She sat up, rubbing her head from the pain. "That's the second time already. When will I learn to fall on my feet and not my head while going through this thing?" The area was a sheet of white and wind was blinding her vision. She looked around to see if she could locate Shizuru, but to her avail, nothing. The thought of a different Shizuru was still playing with her inner thoughts. "SHUT UP BRAIN!!!"

She stood up and scanned her surroundings. The place seemed cold and snowy to her. This was her element after all and she felt a positive reaction to it. Something seemed a little bit off though. The wind was picking up some more and blowing snow around so much that it was creating a sheet of snow. Her hair blowing in the wind was mixing with the white powder and creating designs with it.

Natsuki continued to walk slowly in the snow but stopped once she hit a wall. She felt around and noticed that the wall was slanted.

"What?" Natsuki said with question.

She turned back around and notice the wind dieing down. She was in a massive ditch.

The blue-haired woman slumped her shoulders down in defeat.

"No wonder I couldn't see anything!"

Exiting the portal next in a more graceful manner, Oscar lands in a kneeling position, observing her entire surroundings. She tosses her golden head of natural waves back, leaving a trail of sparkles in the air. Some of which remained on her flawless face.

"Mademoiselle Natsuki. Isn't it strange that zis place is filled to the brim with winter and somehow, we're unaffected?"

Falling and dragging Midori with her, Saki landed straight into a face full of pure white as savage winds tore around them. Lifting her head slowly she gasped.
"Where are we now?" She asked, shouting over the winds.
"Dammit Saki don't yell! My head feels numb." Midori scolded.

Shizuru walked through the portal, sticking close to her Natsuki. Still, no matter how closely she’d followed, the driving snow blocked her vision. Her eyes narrowed in a glare, not appreciating being unable to see Natsuki, as an image of the Gakuanchou lying helplessly on the ground as she bled out flashed through her mind. With a light snarl at the weather, she surged forward, determined to find her Natsuki.

Fortunately, the wind died off after a short while and Shizuru zeroed-in on her missing blunette. She tilted her head as she approached.

“Perhaps Elsa-san can help with the weather?”


Elsa sighed from her perch atop Summanus’ head as the group she’d wound up with entered the portal one-by-one. Shizuru was sticking close to the woman with dark blue hair—Natsuki, if she recalled correctly—and the others seemed to be grouping up as well. She wrapped her arms around her abdomen, desperately worrying about her little sister.

Take it easy, little Iceling. Summanus rumbled into her head. There’s at least one other group out there, perhaps your Anna will be with my Xanda and the others.

Elsa blinked, not having expected that. Then her eyes narrowed. How did you know about Anna?

You think loudly. Was Summanus’ only reply.

Elsa sighed again, abandoning her normally perfect posture in favor of slumping deeper into the nook she’d discovered on Summanus’ head. It really was the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.

“Great, more snow.” Summanus grunted as they made their way through the portal at last, landing on the ground with an earth-shaking thump. “You’ll be right at home here, Iceling.”

Elsa smiled as she felt the chill hit her skin; closing her eyes as she worked on resonating with the area. After a moment, she could feel each flake of snow; each breath of cold air inhaled by her companions.

She straightened her posture once more, feeling calm with the knowledge that she’d be at her strongest in this environment.

"AHHHHHHHH, YOU SON OF A-------" Johanna yelled as she landed on the ground with both feet out in front of her. "Okay, where is he??" Johanna turned around with her ax ready but nothing was happening.

"Well, damn. Nothing, once again." She huffed and sung her ax down on the ground, causing the rocks to break apart and created a little crevasse.

Johanna took another look around to see snow, rocks and wind...everywhere. "Another F-ing arena! Enough is enough." She crossed her arms as she shuffled her way slowly across the snow.

"F-you, Snow. I know it's you this time." Johanna mumbled to herself.

Oscar places her delicate yet firm hands on Johanna's shoulders in an attempt to calm her down. She smirks anyway, already used to Johanna's random outbursts which to her seem borderline bi-polar. "Technically, it is snow."

Plopping down on top of Johanna is the Cat Goddess, who places her hands in prayer position. "What Johanna-san needs is a good ol' fashion lesson in zen! Relax your female hormones! Ease the tension with a little...FOOD! MAI MUST OF BEEN HERE!"

Mikoto lunges at the ground, becoming quickly disappointed. "Huh? Strange...this snow is actually really snow."

"Is she really a goddess?" questioned Oscar internally.

"In any case, there is a massive negative reading coming from beyond the mountains. Saki-san! Midori-san! Scout ahead and tell us what you find."

Oscar's beautiful sapphire eyes light up. "Good idea! Come on Mademoiselle, we'll find this Snow...Man together."

The Cat Goddess overhears this and strangely cackles with delights. "Tee hee...PUNZ."

"Alright!"
Her R.E.M. activating, Midori summoned Gakutenou, climbing astride his back while Saki floated upward to land next to her. Taking off, they soon left the others behind to force their way through thick winds. They managed to pass the mountains and descend somewhat, finding a strange girl wandering alone in their path.
"Who is that?" Saki asked.
"How am I supposed to know?" Midori whispered back.
"Point taken."
"Let's find out anyway."
Landing on solidly packed snow, Gakutenou was still as Midori shouted to the walking figure.
"Hey! Where are you headed?"

Johanna huffed at the advices that the pair gave her. "The best things that calm me down aren't here. That's throwing bread at the Peeta-Cabana and Katniss." I guess you guys will have to do for now."

Johanna threw her ax down on the ground leaned her head back to look at the sky. "I don't say thank you a lot but......yeah, thank you."

Natsuki nodded at what Mikoto and Oscar said. She walked over to Johanna as the wind died down. "They're right. You need to stop coming through the portal like a maniac. You hurt yourself, OR one of us. Keep that ax at a low level." Natsuki curled her lips up into a smile.

"Well I'm just passing through, no need to seem snappy."
As Midori responded she felt her hand twitching for her swords. Saki caught it just in time out of the corner of her eyes. She placed a hand on Midori's.
"She doesn't mean that, we were just curious, right?"
Saki paused, flashing Midori a warning look.
