What's the saddest boyxgirl romance anime you've watched?

for me it was:

And on topic, it's ANOHANA (Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai) hands down.

Had me bawling like a baby in the airport of all places haha.

Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres. Saying why would be too spoil-y, even with tags. Children on the internet are too curious for their own good!

Let's just say that Watase-sama was (and probably still is) the master of emotional scenes between a man and a woman. Even when the female is involved with someone else (All those Hotohori x Miaka moments are just....*crais* )

btw Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan is based largely off a true story. the characters actually existed
