Mai-HiME

1. Natsuki Kuga ~ She's mysterious, beautiful and the deepest character in the entire series.

2. Midori Sugiura ~ No agenda. No drama. Midori is firm believer in justice and kicking ass to save the world.

3. Shizuru Fujino ~ Misunderstood by many fans. They call her psychotic. I call her a lost soul who's deep love for another almost became her downfall.

4. Akane Higurashi ~ Arguably, the most underrated HiME of all. Akane is the nice girlfriend every male could ever dream of. ^____^

5. Mikoto Minagi ~Incredibly skilled with a sword and able to retire more people than social security, Mikoto is a cheerful and devoted girl. Willing to protect her loved ones at any cost.

6. Miyu Greer ~ The Terminator of Mai-HiME. She transcends her basic programming by protecting little Alyssa. I find that very noble.

7. Mai Tokiha ~ Mai's inability to be honest with herself may get on my nerves, but her HiME powers are immense. Like her Melons. XD

8. Chie Harada ~ I've met a lot of gossip girls in my life. None more sexy and charismatic than Chie. She's such a vibrant character, you could easily make a spinoff about her and Aoi as they raid Fuuka for the latest in steamy romances. ^_~

9. Haruka Suzushiro ~ Seriously? The loud mouth actually stood up to a Naginata-wielding Shizuru. If that doesn't make her awesome, nothing will.

10. Yukariko Sanada ~ Everybody's least favorite HiME. What can I say? She's a parody of herself and has a certain appeal that I can't put my finger on. ^_^

Mai-Otome

1. Arika Yumemiya ~She started out as a confused girl who knew nothing about the Otome. By the time Zwei arrived, Arika became the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. She surpassed all her fellow Otome in such a short amount of time. All because of her passionate spirit, the never give up attitude in the face of evil.

2. Maria Graceburt ~ Don't mess with your elders as Nagi's henchmen and Slaves have learned. Miss Maria is extremely powerful, fast and intelligent. Why the series didn't focus more on her is beyond me. She has a strong connection with past events leading up to Arika's epic arrival. I want an OVA on Miss Maria, SUNRISE! GIVE IT TO ME!!!

3. Midori of Aswad ~ The inspirational leader who inspired Queen Mashiro and Arika Yumemiya to search deep into their hearts and become stronger people. I do miss the drunk heroine of justice from HiME, but Aswad Midori is an example of someone who should run nations and countries.

4. Queen Mashiro ~ In the beginning, Mashiro needed a serious bitch slap. Later on with Arika's support and Midori's leadership, Mashiro molded herself into a Queen everyone could love and respect.

5. Haruka Armitage ~ GUTS!!! Haruka represents the inner strength in all of us. She was more of a shitt-talker in HiME. In Otome, she is an established Otome with amazing strength. The woman launched a ship into space with ease!!!

6. Rosalie Claudel ~ We don't see enough of her, but she's is extremely beautiful and provided some delicious fanservice. Such potential in the Abyssal Green Jadeite. >_< *gropes her breasts*

7. Erstin Ho ~ What RedEyedWolf said. She was the glue that held Arika and Nina and truly loved them as friends. Okay, she loved Nina a tad more. ^_~ What happened to her was unfortunate, but her memory lives on.

8. Shizuru Viola ~ The bumbling bubuzuke didn't capture my attention like she did in Mai-HiME, although she did provide awesome fight scenes. Plus her relationship with Natsuki is 100% official in Otome. SUNRISE gave the fans what they wanted and I appreciate it to this day. <3

9. Natsuki Kruger ~ The lone-wolf persona is gone, but some things never change. ^_~ Natsuki is still beautiful, uke about being exposed and bad ass in the heat of battle. She plays the role of Headmistress and seeks support from her Shizuru. ^_^ What more can you ask for?

10. Nina Wang ~ While I blame her for slipping into Nagi's hands easily, Nina was a tragic figure. The feelings for Sergay (even if you find them wrong), her brief hatred/jealousy for Arika and alliance with Nagi were all caused by her insecurities. Usually I favor killing the bad guy so he/she will never return to hurt another again. Nina is different. She needed help and Arika knew this.

Since I haven't seen Otome in its entirety yet, I shall just do my HiME list X3

1. Midori Sugiura - well, duh?
2. Akira Okuzaki - cuz I don't have a thing for cross-dressers at alllllll
3. Mikoto Minagi - my squishy kitty X3
4. Chie Harada - 'nuff said.
5. Natsuki Kuga - cuz she's freaking awesome and kicks ass
6. Nao Yuuki - I like spiders too >>
7. Miyu Greer - damn sexy robot
8. Mai Tokiha - Makes the best ramen evar

Nina Wang is the Anakin Skywalker of the Mai-Otome universe, but at least she wasn't a cry baby about it. ^^; Stay away from the Star Wars prequels...))

Well, better late than never so, here goes:

1 Yuuichi Tate. Everyone here knows he's my favorite character by now. He just wants to help and finds out the hard way that he can't help and sees the people he loves getting hurt. Soul Crushing doesn't even begin to cover it. But despite all of that Yuuichi will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves and will take responsibility for his actions.

2. Haruka Suzushiro. The woman has some serious guts and then some. Kicking a tank was just the appetizer. The main course was watching her waltz right up to Shizuru, holding her extremely lethal element, grab it and not even flinch or care about it, and even when she was dying, she stalked right up to Shizuru and vowed to make life difficult for her even if she was dying and headbutts her! That put her at the top of my females list.

3. Midori Sugiura. Once you get past her goofiness you see a strong, confident and willing woman who will protect those she cares about, and will not falter in the face of adversity.

4. Mai Tokiha. The strong willed, caring big sister to a T. She'll do anything she can to protect her lo ved ones and even if she has to face some serious traumas on this island, she'll stand tall and proud no matter what happens

5. Natsuki Kuuga. Brains, Beauty, A crackshot aim with a gun and a multipurpose child that can either be a metal gun barrel lined wolf or a hoverbike. How do you top that kind of cool?

6. Yukino Kikukawa. Loyalty to a fault. She may be a mousy little girl who does little more than just follow Haruka around and correct her ever present grammar problems, but even she can deliver the authority when it needs to be delivered. Not only to a few punks cutting classes but to Shizuru when she was at her most dangerous. Tell me that wasn't the least bit admirable.

7. Akira Okuzaki. Everyone's favorite crossdressing Ninja who went so far as to jeopardize her family's own orders to protect her most important person. Defying the very orders that your clan has lived by and that you've been trained to follow all for love, now thats a great character.

8. Nao Yuuki. Not my favorite character but her mindset and reasons behind her character and why she did what she did made her a bit more compelling than most, and leading to quite a few what ifs that some people may have asked at some point. Her moments with Natsuki, either from teasing one another to threatening the other's lives was always entertaining to watch.

9. Akane Higurashi. Mai may be the cool big sis but Akane truly is the girl next door with a very warm and caring personality that you hate to see anything bad happen, which makes her defeat all the hardest to watch and seeing her relegated to being the sacrificial lamb to show how the series rules worked, all to make her reunion with Kazu all the sweeter to watch in seeing that she finally catches a break.

10. Masashi Takeda. This is mainly a sympathy listing because he goes through so much crap in both the manga, and the anime, it just hurts to see him get nowhere with either getting Tate back on the Kendo team or with winning Natsuki's affections. I just can't help but feel sorry for the poor guy.

Well that's all, I haven't managed to see anything of Otome other than the first ep so, not much to go on with it as of yet.

Great listing, hildebrant. Not many top ten list for the Mai-Series contain Mr. Takeda. That guy will always be underrated.
