Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
Mahya Blythe of Mai-Otome fame is a beautiful exotic girl, we all know this. I just can't put my finger on what she's supposed to be. Maybe the forehead gem, baggy pants and turban is a giveaway for Indian influence. Then I look at her facial features; which resemble a black woman. She looks more Yoruichi of Bleach fame than Anthy Himemiya of Revolutionary Girl Utena fame.
Maybe the Swirling Dance Fluorite could be both? Discuss, share opinions, etc. :3

When it comes to Akane, Mayha and Kazuya they have an extremely mixed backstory for what their nationalities are based from.
The Cardair/Chaldea Empire, which is technically the Chaldean Empire (Neo-Babylonian Empire) (beside Egypt) and have some history with Mayha's nation via Earl and Earth.
King Argos ~ the ancient Greek city of Argos.
Cardair is basically a huge mess of Greek, Israeli (Fiar Grosse), ancient Iraqi history, etc.
Now, back to Mayha; she is from the Mauryan Kingdom.
From Wiki:
The Maurya Empire was founded by Chandragupta Maurya, with help from Chanakya, a Brahmin teacher at Takshashila. According to several legends, Chanakya traveled to Magadha, a kingdom that was large and militarily powerful and feared by its neighbors, but was insulted by its king Dhana Nanda, of the Nanda Dynasty. Chanakya swore revenge and vowed to destroy the Nanda Empire. Meanwhile, the conquering armies of Alexander the Great refused to cross the Beas River and advance further eastward, deterred by the prospect of battling Magadha. Alexander returned to Babylon and re-deployed most of his troops west of the Indus river. Soon after Alexander died in Babylon in 323 BCE, his empire fragmented, and local kings declared their independence, leaving several smaller disunited satraps.
Mauryan Kingdom/Maurya Empire = India.

What's your other half? Do you look like Mahya? We kinda hope so.

Black, and no, I don't look like her. My hair is dark-brown, typical of my ethnicity.

I don't think anybody can look like Mahya without hair dye, a wig, etc.
Re: Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
I'd say Indian too.
It they want to make black girls or guys in anime, they simply make it look so.

Without ending up like this racist fat asshole:
Oh Toriyama...

It's embarrassing, even today. DBZ is a lot like the Star Wars prequels. Nothing ever made sense, nothing was at stake for me to care for the characters and the only reason I liked both in the first place was because of the "cool action". Luckily I wasn't that much of a moron as a child since I learned about story, emotional tones, character development and character relationships through the alternative:
Re: Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
I watched DBZ because of the girls.
Gotta love Videl and No.18. :3

Haha, we've gone way off topic! So to end it, I'll just say this:
No. 18 kicked Vegeta's ass~ :'3
Re: Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
OH YEAHHHH!!! :3
And yup...way out of topic. XD
Btw, was Mahya the only one with tanned skin in the whole Otome universe? Or was there someone else?

There is someone else with dark skin too. Remember Laura Bianchi?
Wait, let me make a new thread for her. :3

No may fans do, sadly. XD She's one of those extras fans point out and say "Does she even have a name?" X3

If only you had better hair, Laura~ I like everything else on her. Her body (as seen in Mai-Otome Zwei's third episode) is incredible, she's tall and probably weight lifts. My kind of woman.
Re: Is Mahya Blythe black or Indian (Hindu)?
Indeed, she's a gorgeous woman.
And I agree with the hair. Maybe another style would fit her best. :]
