yaoi haters/lovers
normally I think of gay and/or lesbian couples as weird idiots. however these days I find myself seeing Misaki and Hiroki from Junjou Romantica as sort of cute, but too sappy and emotional for my tastes
what are your views
well just to warn all yaoi lovers: BE VERY AFRAID, this world prohibits yaoi relationships due to it's a population of all yaoi haters/normal people, like me(and i'm not afraid to admit to you guys that I just don't like yaoi and me liking those two characters has nothing to do with it)

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
Well....I've seen series with lots of Yaoi subtext *coughCLAMPcough*
But I really never got into it. It didn't appeal to me...
I dislike yaoi. So I prefer to avoid series, manga or any work at all that has it.
On the other hand, Yuri is my life. *3*

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
It's not my most favorite thing in the world. I don't mind it if they can provide a good story and compelling characters. Which they almost always fail to do so. Nevertheless, subtext like in Princess Princess is appreciated.
It doesn't appeal to me on a entertainment level, I'm more into Yuri. But again, give me something entertaining and I won't complain.

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
Yaoi, huh?
Well, a certain idiot of mine happened to be fangirling as all (sorry, most) yaoi fangirls do and so I decided to try. Can't say I'm fond of it, but I could get through it. Personally the only yaoi I got through was Junjou Romantica and for some reason it got me irritated every minute of it (not sure why, though).
This time, I'm going through a manga and it's not all that bad and I plan to read it completely. Even so, I still prefer my sweet addiction called yuri.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion in terms of your taste.
Bashing on yuri and yaoi though... You have got to be ******* kidding me with a signature like that!!

Hey, chill out.
No one was making fun of your siggy or ridiculing you in any way. No need to get angry about it.
It's just kind of an irony that you have 3 icons in your signature that are very emblematic characters to the yuri genre.
And yet, you say that (and I quote):
"normally I think of gay and/or lesbian couples as weird idiots" and "what is yuri? is that lesbian-themed anime? YUCK!"
And, are you sure you wanna know what UKE and SEME mean?

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
For Shounen-ai (or Boy's Love in english) and yaoi, be it manga or series, is the definition assigned to the role of the characters in the relationship.
UKE: is the submissive one. the one at the bottom (if you catch my drift)
SEME: the counterpart, meaning, the aggressive one in the relationship. Also the one on top.
And this is what SEME and UKE mean.

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
I do not say this with the intention to make you angry, in fact I like the idea of your signature perhaps with a bit of design work can get an interesting result, but I find it curious that you dislike the yuri and use in your signature series icons well known in the field.
I understand that there may be more than one reason for you like an anime, perhaps the characters, the story, the atmosphere, the vocal work, music, fighting style, the script and so on. (Especially with KnM, I think is a bit complicate leaving aside yuri)
I have only a little doubt ... What do you dislike the yuri/yaoi? The relationships? some attitudes of the characters? the development of the stories? the end? (some are very strange or awful) just let it out!
PS: in this forum everyone is free to say what he or she thinks, (but no offense) some time I said a couple of things that were not at all relevant here and fortunately nobody killed me xD
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
speaking for myself: yaoi not cause me any conflict, I do'nt consider myself a big fan (my references are from friends I had in high school, they liked them such stories. They almost always have a manga book with them. It may be that the reason why in my mind, hetero and bisexual girls read yaoi. I repeat it is just an idea that I have in the head or perhaps a prejudice. I know that regardless of the sexual orientation of a person, you can enjoy the genre of anime / manga that you choose.
Once out of curiosity I read one, I'm trying to find which was (if I find it I'll edit the post) like an excuse to kill time I liked, like the literary genre with which I will marry ... No.
The yuri, is part of the great loves of my life, along with mass efect play and take pictures. In yaoi do not know much, so I better keep quiet!

I don't like the relationships or the attitudes. part of this is because I was raised in a family that strictly forbid gay or lesbian relationships

Ok I understand this, my family is very traditional (to some extent). I do not feel qualified to give you advice about that, but I can tell you, enjoy what you like and if you dislike something, I think it is valid to say it.
(if you want to talk about anything, some series that you like, discuss a character or something, here I am, just contact me (if you so desire) by private message)

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
Well, you're certainly allowed to have your beliefs and all that.
Just remember, not bashing and be respectful with the likes of others.
And just a heads-up, a lot of stuff in this forum is Shoujo-ai/Yuri.

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
A yuri series that "appropriate"? You might like Maria-sama ga Miteru. It shouldn't offend you in any way, yet, should awaken your senses a bit. If you're willing to be a little open minded.shikiryougi wrote:since you guys all like, uh yuri any suggestions on favorite anime series to watch? just make sure it's appropriate. :blue rose:
Re: yaoi haters/lovers
What about Sasameki Koto?
I think that's also kinda appropriate. What do you think, Luu?

We're totally weird and idiotic : Dshikiryougi wrote:normally I think of gay and/or lesbian couples as weird idiots.
As for yaoi, I don't hate it, it's just not really my cup of tea so I guess I'm kinda neutral about it. Although in fairness I can't say that I've exposed myself to it all that much...I watched Loveless and that's about it...

Re: yaoi haters/lovers
It's tame yes, but something tells me Shiki will be offended by Sumika's constant desire to have sex with Kazama. i.e. The handkerchief smelling scene would drive her into anti-gay overdrive.shezaei-neko wrote:What about Sasameki Koto?
