I love MarImite with all my heart. I'm not happy with the new live-action movie trailer.

They're...They're actually making a live action?! Okay...What?! I always figured they'd be too scared to make a movie-even though Maramite is pretty damn tame. It's still christian high school girls with...christian high school girls. I do know what you mean though-Yumi's actress...dear god- that dear in headlights look does NOT suit that her at ALL. She looks demented. =/ Though, Sachiko's actress looks she like she could handle the role pretty well. Time will tell though.

I'm too biased for Asian women to dismiss the movie. Ice is right about something, the NANA films were dull. You have to understand that live action removes the goofiness from the anime versions. Unless it's Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon of course. XD

Most beautiful character in the series. I enjoy the Maria-sama series, not a HUGE fan though. So I'll find some enjoyment in the movie without bashing it too much.

The trailer can only say so much, it's just generic for now.

I was never in Marimite and I am still not o.o Okay, I promised Megan that I will give it a try again, so we will see ;P

Why I am not in Marimite?? Let's see. Once upon a time... for three or four years I wanted to start watching this anime, but a good friend of mine (?? XD), who was watching it at that time said that it wasn't this good and I should watch SP! instead (I actually wanted to watch Marimite first and then SP! but you see what happend O_O). Of course I tried to watch Marimite later and I can't remember why I stopped watching it XD Oh, I watched the Sei and Shiori thingie for some time (a year ago?? O_o), just because a Shiori is still a Shiori (you don't have to understand that part ;D) and I was totally disappointed :/

Since I don't know much about Marimite I won't say anything to the live action thing, just this: Stop trying to make live action movies! >0<

Marimite was my first major yuri after strawberry panic. I wanted to watch yuri anime because I was exploring myself. ;/ the "maybe i'm a lesbian" stage where i would question myself. still likes dude

sorry lesbians, but im open to anything hence being bi-sexual. my favorite Marimite pair is Sei x Yumi, Sei is sort of like shizuru being flirtie and gay, cept better. :3

Indeed, the newest Marimite installment I found on the net was in April. A new volume came out for the light novel, volume 39 Farewell Bouquet.

Still though, hopefully there will be a new season.

I find it surprising that you like Yoshino ^^;; coz I like her the least. Her forceful personality puts me off.

My favorite character has to be either Yumi or Sei or Noriko...well I actually like them all and can't really make my mind up Akira Okuzaki

Totally. ^^; I thought someone like Yoshino would turn you off, Wendi. She reminds me too much of Lumpy Space Armitage.

My opinion on favorite MariMite character hasn't changed, Sachiko is still # 1! Lately though, I must give a little love to...(don't laugh)...Yumi Fukuzawa. She's just so innocent, pure and naive, that you can't help but like her. In a more sophisticated series like Maria-sama, that type of character works. Nagisa doesn't get away with character on her series since it's deliberate fanservice, but I digress. This is about Lillian and not Astraea Hill affairs. >:3

I'm totally not laughing, I love Yumi too xD Yea, she might be a ditz and a bit dense sometimes, but she has this charm that brings normalcy to the people around her. Especially for a group of people like Yamayurikai, which consist of full-out eccentric people, Yumi's presence is sorely needed there xD Especially in the light novel, you can see how much she affects the people around her, dang she even KO'd Sachiko and Touko, the two toughest people (in terms of personal problems) around.

I like Yumi more coz I can relate to her in some way, but the others are awesome in their own right too 83.

Oddly enough there aren't really any characters that I don't like in Marimite...or at least, I don't hate any of them XD

Marimite is the only series where I don't hate the characters. Maybe it's because the Marimite universe is so damn mellow, it's hard to dislike anyone. Even Yoshino, I've seen pushier in other series. Shiho Munakata comes to mind. ^^;

Deppy is right about Yumi. She's a lot like Usagi in Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, a shining light in everybody's life. Anyone who meets her is immediately changed forever. By the time of the OVA in Italy (the only Marimite OVA I've never seen until recently), every girl was looking up to her. Though it's still awkward picturing Yumi as an "Onee-sama". She's still so innocent. XD "Onee-sama" are usually seme wolves like Shizuru, Shizuma and Sachiko.

And Sachiko? A seme wolf? that made me LOL so hard xDDD She's an uke when faced with Youko, her onee-sama, but indeed a seme when faced with people younger than her wahahaha!

We all know that the anime ended with Season 4 back in 2009, but the lightnovel was still ongoing.

Until a couple of days ago.

According to Hibiki Reine's tweet, she's the illustrator for the Marimite Light Novel, she finally finished her job of illustrating both Maria-sama ga Miteru and it's spin off Oshaka-sama mo Miteru (starring Yumi's little brother Yuuki) novels after 15 long years.

The Marimite Light Novel conclusion comes in the form of volume 39, with Yumi's last year in school as Rosa Chinensis.

I don't know how you guys feel, but I'm both relieved (because there's an ending) and very sad (WHY DOES IT HAVE TO ENDDD) when I heard this news. More sad actually, feels like I'm hollow inside ;____;

....Now I'm just...gonna go....and wallow in sadness in the corner there...

This is extremely shocking! To think that it was only a year ago when I got around to watch the latest Marimite OVA where Yumi, Yoshino, and Shimako all go to Italy. XD Was that the latest one? Anyway, I feel like this is truly a sad moment in our fandom of yuri. volume 39 will be mine the second someone can link me to a site that will ship to the U.S. :'3 I feel like you also deserve a copy, Dep. We discussed Maria-sama long before you joined MM.

Ah, thats the last episode for the OVA.

There's another season after that, Season 4, mostly about Yumi's relationship with the drill-haired girl, Touko Matsudaira. It's a bit more emotional since it deals with Sachiko's-going-to-leave thingy, but she's not as prominent there as she was for the last three seasons. It's still enjoyable and awesome though.

Thanks so much for the link, Deppy! I'm getting a copy for you as well as a celebration of knowing each other for so long. :) Plus I think it's been more than a year since you've been moderator around here, so call it a reward.

Sachiko's "going-to-leave thingy" was a plot device of sorts, but didn't we also see something similar in the final OVA? Throughout the entire trip, Yumi is with the other girls but there an occasional scene or FIVE where she thinks about Sachiko and what she's up to. :'3 These scenes were brief and quite often, but so sweet. <3 This is what made Marimite so watchable; it's subtle subtext romance gives me feels~
