For suggestions, I can briefly recommend:
Go Home, Natsuki by Blue Lone Wolf (Falls under AU, and somewhat OOC since Natsuki pines over Shizuru)
The Advert by Hofftailing (Which had me laughing until I was almost crying. Very short.)

I notice that not many of the fandom's older authors (those that wrote some years ago when the series were still fresh) are around any more. Or that's the impression I got from ff.net's front pages. Lots of author names I don't recognise.

Anyone know if some of the older authors still write for the fandom or are involved in some way? I've fallen out of contact with some and would be nice to see how they're doing, at least.

(Tate got owned XD) Anyway, not bad for a one-shot and don't worry about proper grammar. I love to write as I love to read, it's my "primary main hobby", I'm quite picky though (sorry, I'm too old to stand everything XD).
As Ice Silver Crystal wrote, yes, me too I think that lately the stories on the Mai Hime section on ff.net have become a bit repetitive. Also, they rely a bit too much on romance for my personal taste -I'm more oriented towards the action/drama/sci-fi stories-, and I prefer stories that feature the whole cast and not just Shizuru and Natsuki. As much as I find them interesting characters... well... thousand stories that solely tell how Shizuru fall in love with Natsuki and vice-versa are not really my piece of cake XD

To me, the zany+random+raunchy fanfiction takes over Mai-HiME/Otome. I do enjoy it, comedy happens to be my forte. I just don't see why these authors can't take another direction, just for one time. I'm trying to stray away from the drama genre lately. On the other hand, I LOVE AU stories. So I'm kind of stuck in the middle here, haha! Thanks for the recommendation, Wakana!

Awwwww, thankyou so much! And I know that at chapter 4 I was all like "I'm gunna update every week"
Then me and Luu broke up and kinda didn't feel like writing much after that lol. But funny thing was is that I drafted that recent chapter when I was over in England waaaaay back in 2010, typed it up but just couldn't put it together that well.

So yeah, overall, thankyou for liking the story. Means a lot to me. And currently working on the new chapter =)

I read alot of romance fics but I honsestly prefer Hurt/Comfort. Sadly there isnt alot of that, that includes ShizNat (my main favorite). So I just read romance.

they are more recent additions to the collection of fics I've read and liked.

I was so happy to see Inter Nos recommended here it is such an awesome well written story, I can't get enough of it. We're learning about Roman Laws in class and the story is pretty accurate. I mean as accurate as can be if you keep in mind the changes the author had to make for the story to work.

Also when I first watched Mai-Hime, I was a little uhm disturbed by ShizNat as I was with ChikanexHimeko cause what Chikane and Shizuru did. Now while I understood at the end Chikane's reason I was a little more disturbed by Shizuru's. I couldn't help but like it but I also didn't want to like it. Anyway I decided to ignore it ever even happened for the sake of Shipping until I came across this fic:

Windows of the Soul

This fic redeemed Shizuru without making it seem like Natsuki just decided to forgive her out of the blue, it also gives her so much depth. I love it as much as I did the first time I read it.

Well I don't think I ever read the second one but yes, Back to Back is one of my favorites. It's a real shame it is taking so long to complete it, or even update. Still, I have re-read that fanfiction multiple times because I love the story and how it's beautifully written.

I used to, but it never actually made it onto a site. It was more for my own eyes type of thing, I did always meant to actually make a story out of it. I did this back when I RPed a lot on several sites, but I sort of fell off my boat on RPing, thus lost my touch of writing. I do want to get back into it, somehow.

I'm with you there. Fanfiction is more of a spectator's sport for me. XD Okay, I am doing a forum roleplay at the moment, which requires heavy writing, but still. Would be nice to see what you can do in our roleplay. I thought about adding one more person.

I agree. Most likely because I can't take the criticism, at least I don't think I could xD I'm already shy with my writing so having other people jump on me worries me.
